Watch what you sign for.

Apparently, you have to go through an arbitrator picked by your employer if you want to sue for lost wage. It looks like an easy way for employee to cheat out of paying you the appropriate salary.

It's unfair in my opinion. Things like this should not be happening.

The article is somewhat misleading. For instance no-compete contracts are argued in court all the time. In fact my friend just went through one (although they settled out of court). Contracts work both ways. So in the case of the Limo company they are contracting to provide work. So the driver can actually turn the contract back around on the limo company. The driver has power in that contract.

As for the janitor, arbitration is usually good for employees IF they have a legitimate claim. Look at arbitration in sports. It doesn't really mater that the arbiter is paid by the corporation because there are serious legal ramifications for an arbiter who rules based on bias.

That being said, your first line is absolutely correct. Know what you are signing before you sign.
