Operation To Remove Brain Tumor Caused Neuro Disorder

They say laughter is the best medicine. But a 7-year-old British girl may disagree after an operation to remove a brain tumor left her giggling non-stop.

Enna Stephens suffers from pseudobulbar affect (PBA), a neurological disorder brought on by nerve damage that makes it difficult to control emotional responses.

Some patients with PBA cry uncontrollably, others get angry, but Enna gets frequent bouts of the giggles, ABC News reported.

The little girl had suffered dizzy spells, blurriness and sickness before a visit to the doctor in June revealed a malignant growth behind her eye. The operation to remove it caused the PBA as a side effect, according to The Daily Record.

"Doctors said that most patients who have had a brain tumour removed feel depressed or can even be angry," said Enna's mother, Vana Stephens. "When she first came round after the operation she was giggling. It was so lovely to hear after everything she had been through. Once she starts she can't stop."

Enna now faces 16 months of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, although doctors say there is an 80 percent chance the tumor will not return.
