Gasoline at Highest Price Ever for This Time of Year

When I drove back home from Tx on the road, LA was close to $5, upon coming home it was $4.40's. South Ca is more higher than North.

Interesting, I always thought it was the reverse. But both are outrageously high compared to most of the country.

California is more strictest in the nation on environment.

??? USA gas price is somewhere in middle when coming to compare to countries, you can't afford gas in Europe, wanna pay $12/gal over there? But of course, not the cheapest.

Yes, that why I proud to be American.

Also, Canada is pretty bad - about similar to California, but it is worse in some area.

This thread addresses the USA national average......

I don't live in other countries so that is not really my concern.

With us watching gas prices more carefully and trying to make head and tails out of gasoline market, the oil cats just throw anotheer curveball just to keep us guessing. They dont want the real secret out.

Look at cars today - if you take a 2013 truck today, it gets worse mileage then 1980's. sucks!! we should be lightyears in advances by now, but yet thanks to epa and greedy oil monsters, its getting worse. just think!!! 30 years ago gas was less then 3 bucks a gallon and the mileage was better with real big motors. Now we have small motors and gas approaching 5 bucks a gallon and we are trying to squeeze everything out of these little things.

we are doomed financially for sure!

I average 4-5 miles a gallon and drive over 100 miles almost daily.

*sigh*

I've got to drive to and from NH five days a week - the commute alone takes more than half my pay check....I've got to keep working on my resume....

I'm going to heartily disagree. Like I said... I get 4-5 miles per gallon. I drive a 1992 F-250 with the large Windsor engine. It typically gets around 11-12 but I also pull a 6x12 enclosed v-nose so.... 4-5 mpg is my consumption rate. I also have an employee who has used his truck from time to time... more than triple better consumption (around 17mpg pulling the trailer)

As there's no real good reason for 4-5 mpg in this day and age... I really need to get a newer truck but this one has really treated me well. Additionally, I also have spent money converting it into what I need for work... racks, eye bolts, vinyl, cone holders, tranny cooler, etc.

I also do some jobs nationally. I did one in Oklahoma City and Nashville just a couple weeks ago and I have one upcoming in Denver.

*glug glug glug*

Fortunately, I set the pay rate so... I do make sure I am compensated accordingly but when it jumps like it did this week... it makes it difficult because I put out estimates that are valid for 90 days.

I can only imagine the wear on your truck...which reminds me, I'm due for yet another oil change....

My area, gas price went up to $3.65 now. If it continue to grow to $4 or more, I would ride motorcycle more often even if it's rainy out. I had enough paying $4 a gallon into my Dodge Durango (averaging $90 a week!!) 5 years ago and buried my wallet.

Is it gasoline or diesel?

that's why I'm glad I got me a motorcycle... only 4 gallons with a range of 300ish miles

Is it good idea to build more oil refineries to meet population's growth? For me, it isn't bad idea for sure.

pointless. it would take over 5 years to build one and then get it running.

I'd buy one myself but I don't feel like looking like Don King every place I go....

Just wait 'til it hits $5... I told people not to go there in November. Now, we'll see prices increase on everything. I only got an annualized raise of 3% on wages of 11+ an hour. Fortunately, I got a bit of an increase in SSDI as well. It reduces the impact of inflation some, but not enough to completely offset it. Really, raises are just cost-of-living adjustments. It occurred to me a couple of years ago that if you look at it this way, people who don't do well on the job and don't get raises are punished by watching their purchasing power drop. Or some companies don't provide raises AT ALL. I worked for one company that did that. They FOLDED 11 months after I went back to graduate school. F* 'em.

I'm also a motorcyclist. I've seen you comment about your bike in the past too so I'm aware that you're very familiar and comfortable with them. That being said... it really isn't much better mileage than a car anymore. My first bike was a 1981 Honda CB900C and I believe at one point... I got better than 50 per gal but now on my GSXR1000k6, I get around 25ish. My wife's car gets better mileage than that. Granted, it's a litre bike but the fact remains... they don't get what they used to get ... ironically... like what radioman was saying earlier about the big engines. Buy a Volt and get 50mpg. There aren't very many motorcycles anymore that can get those kind of numbers. Well... 250s don't really count do they!?
