So i was talking to a friend of mine who was in the band with me last year, he graduated. Its kind of a long story. But i'll cut to the chase.

It started out from a competition. we were in first place from about 15-30 years (which i never knew) against another band. And then this year, we placed 2nd. Our band members started to feel like we're not exciting enough in our performance and our music, and that one of the BOA (bands of america) judges hated us and that they're the reason why we're not placing well. But our band directors had made a band meeting and tried to clear things up. But we still had a awful feeling in our gut. fast forward to grand nationals. We were performing our best at prelims, and finals. But we placed 16th in semi-finals. Which made us feel really crappy. The band directors wanted to have a show that's "out of the box" which wasn't a good idea to do that this year, mand still, somehow, be the centerville jazz band. Nobody was putting any effort into this show and i have a feeling that after what happened into placing 16th, the band directors are going to play it safe. I felt like they didn't care at all, and just felt it as a stupid job that you aren't really looking forward to. In my freshman year, we had a show called Wild Things.

I'll tell you a few things why, 1) in 2008, our band was so passionate to actually place good than what they did in their high school career. they wanted to change history. 2) we were like family. 3) we had so much fun. we worked really hard. But we had fun. 4) it was one of the most memorable shows we have ever done. Comparing that to now, nobody really cares. all of that passion is just...gone. and its disappointing. Now going into drumline season, people are quitting, and we are losing people in drumline. we lost 7 seniors, and 1 freshman in drumline this year. Because they didn't want to deal with the staff who always have given up their time to help us become a great musician, and to help us learn. They didn't want to put up with the yelling, the frustration, everything. So now, everybody in my graduate class in high school is hoping for a decent show theme this year. Our class of 2009 alumni is really disappointed about what had happened. They care about us, they wish us the best and good luck. With marching season coming up again in may, everybody is curious about what show theme we would have, but too scared what the directors would come up this year after coming up with last's year show. I feel frustrated, a little disappointed, and stressed out.

Sorry for this long post. I just had to vent this out. And i needed somebody to talk to about this.
