A DEAF footballer from Haringey who could not travel to a major championship after a lack of funding won a donation to enable him to take part.
Daniel Ailey is part of the Great Britain deaf football team that was due to travel to Denmark for the Deaf European Championships at the end of last month.
But after missing out on funding that had been diverted to next year's Paralympics, he had to rely on a grant from the Al Fayed Charitable Foundation so that he could make the trip.
The British team went on to reach the semi-finals of the championships last week, before losing 3-1 to Ukraine – with Daniel scoring three goals during the tournament.
