Researchers are learning that hearing loss is more common than what they believed. Ninety-five percent of all hearing losses can be treated medically, surgically or with amplification. It all starts with early identification.

"Dial A Hearing Screening Test" (DAHST), is a free, recorded telephone hearing screening test that allows people to check their hearing levels in the privacy of their own home. DAHST is market approved by the Food & Drug Administration, and is designed to promote better hearing health.

By calling 603-335-2700, you will be connected with the DAHST program. You should be in a perfectly quiet room, with paper and pencil, using a cord phone. A series of technically-tested tones will sound. If you don't hear all of the tones, you are advised to seek a more comprehensive hearing test.

This test is provided locally by The Audiology & Hearing Aid Clinic, James M. O'Day, M.A., CCC-A, as a public service to the community of Dover and surrounding areas.
