Top 10 Human Sideshow Freaks

Freak Show

Coney - Freaks

Kind of sad to see this. I've seen some of these pictures before. Others are new. For many it was their only way to earn money while being exploited. And, no, they're not freaks. Just human beings.

Then why are you contrbuting to the exploitation by posting it here?

Disgusting.

I have started avoiding these threads, but I just felt I needed to add something. My impression is that Koko is the type that likes to lite a stick of dynamite, throw it in a rabbit hole, and sit back and see what happens. I refuse to take part in his little social reaction experiments. Don't take the bait, people!

Sometimes, the sticks are thrown back...:giggle:

What if they were called "marvels" " miracles" instead of "freaks"

I personally don't see freaks when I look at these people.

What if some if not all were proud of their looks?

Has anyone seen the TV interview with the hairy twin Gomez brothers who perform in the circus nowadays:
The Mexican International Circus - Reviews

I have seen it, and of course the matter of their condition, the hypertrichosis
was mentioned.
They replied (in the TV intvw) how in the beginning they shaved their entire body but it was such a chore they eventually stopped doing it,
and never regretted it since,
as it is part of who they are, and they accept it wholly.

They are actually proud of it.

The way the deaf are proud of who they are, quite similarly.
There were times when people pitied us, now we are looked at as equals.
well most times eh.

So, by this token, the different looking people not necessarily are ashamed
of how they look, and actually can be proud to be looked at.
I think some may felt themselves sort of actors.
It's rather the reaction of the public that can be positive or negative,
me thinks....

Anybody seen the movie "Freaks"?
I was actually amazed at what these people could do, their disabilities considering.]
I was in awe seeying how a man without arms and legs could strike
a match and light his own cigarette :eek3:

So, maybe let's not fall over ourselves with all this pious pity, huh?

Other famous "wolfman"

The rock star pose is quite sexy, may I add :giggle:

My favorite? The squirrel who went to church.

Call what you will people, but they are indeed human beings. Fascinating as some may be but still human beings. How about doing that for a change and confirm for these people for what they are.

"John Merrick: I am not an elephant! I am not an animal! I am a human being! I am a man!"

I wouldn't use the word "freaks" myself. They're human beings with very unusual medical conditions or differences that sometimes defy the human imagination. Medical marvels? Sure. What word would they call themselves as if they're comfortable with it? I wonder. Any takers?

The whole point is, if you truly believed they were just people, this thread with "freaks" in the title would never have appeared. You are exploiting them for your own entertainment. Hypocrit.

well said
the real freak show is 'the donald' debate. no class. he thinks he can manipulate this country.
