For you latenened-deafened/hoh people...

I just wanted to add that there are LOTS of places in the USA and Canada where you can have your hearing tested FOR FREE. There are plenty of Audiologists and hearing centres (not the same thing) that offer free Audiograms, tympanography etc - you just need to call around a few places to find them. Some also offer free pick up & drop off to appointments (typically for seniors, however if you have no way to get to the appointment they might make an exception)

I cannot stress HOW important it is for you to have a complete audiological work up NOW. You really need to see an Audiologist with at least an AuD. (doctorate in Audiology) who will be able to properly test you so you have a "base line" for the future. You should do this before you worry about seeing and ENT - and you should NOT need a Dr referral to see an Audiologist.

It's especially important if you do need hearing aids and are under 18 (or 21) as there is almost universally different hearing aid coverage and funding (better) for children (0-18, or 0-21) than for adults (ie once you turn 19 or 22 depending on the state, program etc).
