for reba : hybrid mean street car

Thanks for the suggestion Deafclimber but my daughter is grown up and married (She is 32 years old). I need more than two seats because Hubby and I often pick up our two grandsons (and some of their friends) and take them places, like bowling, IMAX, rodeo, fireworks, ball games, Aquarium, museum, etc. :)

I must say... FANTASY!!! Whenever there is oil price going up faster than normal. There is more talk of higher MPG cars! They never materialized. Believe me, I have heard stories back in 1973 that there was advertising that there was car that gets 100 MPG. I still remembered that prototype yellow car similiar to Chevy Nova. This couple actually rented a rather large manufacturing building to show that they are in for real. So, investors dumped in plenty of money. So, these couple collected MILLIONS of dollars meant for stockholders. Guess what? It was TOTALLY FRAUD! These couple vaporated into thin air and was never caught!

Talk is CHEAP, where is the real thing? That is what I am waiting to hear.

ahh i think i heard that story somewhere in popular mechanics magazine. but i could be wrong.

Yea, I was there when this scam occured. I remember the great oil crisis back in early 70's vividly. That is why I wasn't going crazy at this time because this time isn't as bad as back in 70's. When I see people panic right now, I call them joke! Then only time I'd panicking is when the last drop of oil is announced, and I don't think it would happen in my lifetime.

I know what you mean. The price is awful now but at least we are not sitting in long lines at the gas station, or limited to "even/odd" days for our turn. It was worse when the gas stations actually ran out of gas, and some closed.

I remember the heating oil was restricted back then too. We had to set our thermostats real low in the winter, and some oil companies were not accepting new residential customers.

Wow! I didn't know about this part. My family house use Natral gas as heat source so, I never seen any plm with them. But it does makes sense anyhow.

I think it just affected heating oil, not natural gas. My mom lived in CT at that time. She was a long-time customer of the oil company, so she was OK. But the company was not accepting new customers. My mom had to make reservations way ahead of time to get oil. Also, each customer had a "limit", so she had to be careful about using the heat.

I was living in Pensacola at that time, so it wasn't too bad. But I know the buildings at work (Naval Air Station) began setting down the thermostats for heat, and putting locks on the controls. Of course, it didn't often get too cold in Florida, so it wasn't too bad. I think the temperature limit was 68 degrees for heat.

The year before that, I was stationed at Great Lakes, IL (near Chicago). I am very glad that I transferred from there before the heat restrictions took effect! :cold:

I am surprised to hear that. It would be nice if electric solar for the roof and a hybrid car/truck are reasonable price, but it doesn't work for me cuz they are way too expensive - much more expensive than buying gas and oil. That's very unfortunate.

Well it don't work overnight, and if too overcast like my hometown generally get overcast. Plus I work 3rd shift so Solar is out of question for me.
