As a Republican wave swept across the United States on Tuesday, the Fox News Channel enjoyed its biggest midterm election audience ever.

Fox News, a favorite of Republicans, averaged 6.96 million viewers in prime time on Tuesday, according to ratings results from the Nielsen Company. Fox more than doubled CNN’s numbers, which averaged 2.42 million viewers, and more than tripled MSNBC, which averaged 1.94 million viewers.

Among viewers 25 to 54 years old, Fox News averaged 2.43 million in prime time. CNN averaged 1.03 million among that demographic and MSNBC, 669,000.

Fox averaged 3.06 million viewers during the midterms in 2006, when there was a Democratic wave. Fox has grown significantly in popularity since then.

CNN, by contrast, has shrunk — it had averaged 2.97 million viewers in the midterms in 2006. MSNBC’s prime-time averages were almost the same in 2006 and 2010.

Congratulations, Foxnews.

Why are you so obsessed with Foxnews, considering that it's all Faux news?

Because they're reliable, newsworthy, reputable, dependable, entertaining, informative, trustworthy, fair and balanced, and certainly the only cable news that consistently beat the hell out of the rest of their competitors.

Ok. Nothing for you to worry or be concerned about. No one is forcing you to watch Foxnews. Go watch MSNBC or CNN if you so desire.

CNN was counting the 2 I's as D's in their senate count last night because they "caucus" together. That is the reason their count was different than all the other networks.

Sounds like CNN was desperate to not make it look like a total wipeout. That was a funny thing they did. Stoopid, but funny.

I don't care about Fox News.

I LOVE CNN!

I love Foxnews since the have on board people who voted for Republicans and Democrats.

First of all, why is it that Conservatives swarm there by the busload? Maybe because they get the news in such a way that they like it? Based on your constant Liberal bashings, and the fact you foam at the mouth over FoxNews, it does not take a genius to figure out something smells funny over there.

Second, how in the world do you know how MSM anchors and reporters voted? Do you have a spy in the booth with them? Just because some guy on FoxNews says he voted for Clinton does not mean he really did, nor does it mean he is not currently slanted towards a right wing viewpoint. Even TxGolfer admits to voting for Democrats, and he is a pretty Conservative guy. Is it somehow a "sheepskin of honesty" on the wall for these Fox people to admit they voted for a Democrat?

As for anchors, Greta Van Susteren is a known Democrat who have publicly stated she voted for Obama. Juan Williams is a regular contributor on Foxnews and he's a known Democrat who voted for Obama. Shepard Smith is a Democat. Alan Colmes is a Democrat during the Hannity and Colmes show for several years. You have Bob Beckel, Mara Liasson, Geraldo Rivera, and Mort Kondracke who are all Democrats just to name a few who regularly come on the show. I didn't say I know who voted for who but the fact that Foxnews have both Democrats and Republicans on their show who have either voted for a Republican or Democrat. And your point is...?

And your point is...?
My point is that if you, a hard core Conservative, feel the FoxNews is by far the best source for your news, it causes me to consider the reasons for it. If the most Liberal people on these forum boards declared MSNBC to be the most fair and unbiased news source, what would you think?

Does MSNBC have any Republican anchors and contributors on a daily basis?

No idea. I never visit that place either. MSNBC is about as Liberal as they come. Why would I expose myself to left wing bias any more than right wing bias? I am a M-O-R kind of guy. I drift through places and try my best to brush off the dirt, hoping to find something to keep.

Ok.

"Because they're reliable, newsworthy, reputable, dependable, entertaining, informative, trustworthy, fair and balanced...."

Um, no. They aren't, except the entertaining part.

The majority doesn't make it right. :)

Yet, still they go and watch helping Foxnews stay #1.

Actually, they become more informed on what's going on that other MSM won't report. Plus, you have both Democrats and Republicans as anchors or do political analyses. A good way to bring in the masses. And people wonder why MSNBC and CNN are down in the tank?
