Hello, I am an adult and I work. I live at home with mom. I thought about applying for Food Stamps for a little bit to help until I find a new career. I heard that they now use a card not a voucher, so that seems a bit of a relief. Anyway, the form asks some specific bills you pay monthly. The only thing I pay is my own insurances, gas, car, clothes, etc. I buy food also, but I do get help from mom. The reason, I am asking here is because the form is asking for the incomes an stocks, etc, etc, from everyone who earns income in the home. I am looking to apply for this myself--not for my mother, I live at home, and I don't pay any of the house bills to write anything on it as it applies to me. Does anyone know if I have to include my mom's income?

It IS impossible to give accurate information because the rules varies from county to county so, it is best to find out with your caseworker. I bet since you work you may not qualify for food stamp, and it is not worth the hassles. FYI.

no you cant include your moms income.. only yourself.. you have to fill out anything u have, land, homes, cars, etc.. write down all bills u pay.. even hearing aid batteries.. for the ladies.. they can add pads to the necessity list but u have to have the recepits to show them how much you buy them in a month. both are thats necessity. hope this helps...

yes its a card.. not vouchers anymore... i like the card as its easy to just swipe it and its done.. faster than having to count money as i remmy my mom had them when i was young.. ugh... i hate it... lol

Yes, Food Stamps looks like a credit card. Sometimes at work, I do not know if the customers uses FS! You need a PIN for the card. I think I told you all I know about food stamps.

It is not necessary for you to fill the form for your mother's income. You are independent because you are working. Do not mention that your mother helping you. I had a food stamp program a long time ago.

In case, you are apply for SSI. The SSI could take away your car if it is worth $12K something like that with your name on the car. I don't have more information about it. I would say that it depends your state... but SSI is a Federal which means all states.

If you do not have your house bills, then just write zero on the form. About the stock, I don't know. My mother has a stock, and a food stamp agent rejected her application.

Actually, a food stamp is worthless if you are working. It pays very very little. No working then I assume that the food stamp will be increased...

I don't know about that but my friend told me that required with who have child or children? :dunno:

There could be have more information on website?

I don't know, it's weird because while I don't have a great job with an education at this moment, I don't earn an incredible income. I consider my income to be in the low income level because it's just not the average income to support yourself well. While I work on my goals to get a better education, I'd like to try to get some assistance.

Well, I would like to find out if I qualify. It wouldn't hurt to try, so it's not really a hassle if you just accept yes or no. It's a hassle if you really need the money or you know you have money somewhere that you can use but don't wanna because it's for some other purpose which I don't. All they can say is yes or no. My dad stopped child support, and he's not willing to help out like a dad should.

I do know that I have to mention who I live with even if that person is not applying for assistance. It says on the form.

I'll try to apply as myself only on the rest and see what happens. I'll take extra information in my purse in case it's necessary. It's the best I can do.

I tried looking online, but it doesn't have much info about it. Just explains what FoodStamp is.
