First-Rate Stamp Price Rises to 41 Cents

Same here, I hardly use USPS service. They can keep increase the rate, the more they increase the rate, the less revenue they are gonna get! No question about it!

That's why I pay my bills online instead of via mail. I hardly mail out stuff since.

Really no benefit? My friends work at Post Office, and they have benefit and 401k. I think they told me about their benefit a few years ago.
Yeah, not everyone get those benefits only for a full time position and work in warehouse. I have to buy one thru PO and it is piece of crap since they cost too much money to buy one.

I do not turst to pay online since someone used fake atm with my pin number. Talked with banker and they told me people got numbers thru computer cuz I once paid few things thru onlline and I got robbed. Forget it, I do in old fashion way send in the mail.

Sorry to hear your views, but I never had that problem since. :)

Yeah me too, that is what my banker told me someone stole it from online which I paid to order. It happened to me not you so ur lucky.

I have no problem with online bank. I am surprised and find it strange how you describe happened to you. My PIN and password between ATM and online is completely different. I would agree that if PIN on ATM is same as online would cause problems, and encourage thieves.

Maybe you should think this way, never never have same pass code on ATM and online, and userid should be different between them as well.

In additional, never use same passcode or password that you use when surfing the internet, like e mail, online service as you would use with banking, that is too dangerous.

If your bank make you use same PIN on your ATM and online, then that is SOMETHING wrong with your bank!

I don't understand this one. I would never use my bank card to buy something online. A credit card like Visa or MasterCard is safe because it allows you to dispute it.

The most important after you log out, you must clear the cache so that someone or a hacker has no way to find it in your browser's cache folder because the cache is empty in the folder. Browser - i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc. Cache is a temporary file that makes your browser to remember the info and graphics from a webpage - it remembers your credit card numbers in the cache folder. I do not know why the software company programmed the cache for a credit card info.

I don't blame you that you don't want to use it for shopping online. I can understand that.

yeah i saw that on the news.. i was like oh boy.. i guess they need money to pay for bonus pay and stuffs to keep building updated to code or whatever.. i dunno..

I heard about the postage raise to .41 cents. I still enjoy receiving an old fashion letter :)

Oh, I thought y'all talking about the gas price. lol...41 cents would be great for gas price....

The postal rule changes are a big headache since we ship dozens of packages a week from our office.

well.. pay attention then.

I think it cost more for building and improve security and more.... E-mail may kill their cost but I still see they earn fine thry package, thank to ebay and other more.

I pay all my bills online except one bill that car payment charges online so I pay thru mail. I ahve too much stamps now I gotta buy 2 more cent for each stamps otherwise I can put two 39 cent stamp for each mail or whatever

Yeah, I use electronically bill on my bank line. Few of them sent to landlord, etc..

It save me alot of money to using on the bank line to pay my the bills. ;)

USPS will prosecute you for online banking. You can get against the law for
avoiding the USPS, just kidding. :giggle: But, USPS cannot stop you from
doing avoid them because you have online billings! :)

LOL PO not gonna do anything. They earn revenue from junkmail and parcels. First class volume have lessen a bit but Standard class volume have increased. That's why you are seeing junkmails in mailbox. I works for PO for 17 years and I know why. Actually PO are not in debt. They are financially strong and in green. They are earning over billions of dollars as I speak. There is no way for Email or electronic payment that will hurt PO. PO encourage that. Remember, there's always be First class mail for next 50 years. Goverment, Court, Lawyers, Doctors, and anyone in profession prefer delivery in PAPER through mail instead of Email (email attachments) or Fax to prevent fraud ect..

Right now, As for stamp increase to 41 cent. Now that for the first time in our History, PO started "Forever Stamp" which means if you buy bulk of 41c stamps, IT WILL BE AS GOOD AS THE NEXT 5 TO 10 YEARS. You will notice there is no price on it!! So If you buy 100 stamps maybe 1,000 of them, You save it in your dresser for next 10 years. Then If you use it and mail it. It's still good, you DO NOT have to worry about adding another 1c or 2c stamp beside it that we used to.

Since PO is financially strong, They do not need to worry about losing money. They had fought Congress for many years to let them be free from Escrow and being a Congress's "cash cow". Actually when I first came in. Congress treated PO like their "cash cow" and next 5 years, they finally stopped doing it cuz PO was in red ink often. PO fought alot until they proved that they don't need taxpayer's money to assist. Then Congress made a law to "revenge" PO to keep up their budget above Escrow level (Congress cut CSRS retirment funding because it was making too much money and also other funding that should be PO's was cut too). Then Until last year, Finally Congress removed Escrow because it's hurting PO for nothing. PO budget shot up and restored everything. Now many retiree who were under CSRS retirment are able to have health care under PO (they pays a little more than I pay for health care). It would be a good news for me and rest of deaf PO employees to have heathcare under PO once retired. And PO opened up the cap for TSP to allow employees to contribute as their heart desire (back then was limited to 5% contributuion. for example: I contribute 3% of TSP fund, PO matches with 3% which is "extra free money", that's it) But PO will only contribute 5% while employee can contribute as much they wish. So that employees can retire comfortably. It depends on individual employees if they can afford. IF they paid off their house long before retirment age, then They can adjust it to pay more on retirement in order to have better retirement.

Currently PO are replacinig lot of aging equiptments and vehicles which are due to retire. I've seen Mail processing machine going downhill and Electronic technicians had to keep repairing until PO replace it (million dollars craps!!). Each machines cost $500,000 or more. Optical Character Reader (OCR) cost $2 million to replace. Both machines process 35,000 pieces of letters per hour!! (runs like a machine gun w/ hundreds of pinball flappers each bins). they are phasing out OCR machine and will combine Canceller machine to DIOSS machine which eliminate few clerks jobs and make productitvity fast. But still they cannot always eliminate clerks jobs at all becasue there are ALWAYS a reject mail to be worked on and also if machine breaks down (typical of machine), Clerks will have to do manual work till machine are up and running. So it make NO difference in job eliminatation. Manual clerk job will always be there the next 50 years. There are too many shape size and texture of letters and flats that are not always compatible with machine. Machine can't even cull out jam itself (dumb machine anyway LOL) so require manual labor to pull out jams. One Machine jams about at least 200 times throughout the nights which creates headaches to clerks LOL. All machine can't handle thick letters so have to do manually. Too many customers mail key, coins, jewely, tape recorder, pen and any solid objects in letter causing machine to jams or spit objects out of letter. (One machine also have over 500 feet worth of belts and pulleys that letters goes through nook and cranny)

That's why few of you received beaten and taped up letter (maybe in plastic bag say "we're sorry that .....) with no objects in it when letter says it's in there. Huh!?.

MY personal advise PLEASE DO NOT mail in skimpy letter, put cardboard or anthing thick to sandwich between the object inside letter and TAPE around the flap of envelope!!! then write "hand deliver only". OR you can mail funny way by mailing pair of cardboard sandwiched between object and tape it to secure it then write TO: and From: address and mail it (be sure ZIP code are clearly written, that's the first thing manual clerks will see for quicker sorting.) This force mail processor to cull out when they see thick letter which is not machineable. I'm not suprised that PO stations DO NOT warn customers about their letter may go through beating of PO's machine.

That's the fact.

I've seen many funny or weird mail coming through mailstream such as paper plate w/ address and stamp on it ( customer wrote: Wonder if it can go thru the PO?") LOL. Tonka truck, Beach ball, Baseball, frisbee, dolls, coconuts, note in bottle, Wood board, candy in bottle, and many more with address and stamps on it that intrigue many clerks working in PO. That keep them interesting. I even seen Bra or underwear came through mailstream (they were lost from it's parcel) Ooops!!. Compressed T-shirts wrapped in 5 inch by 3 inch plastic wrapper. You can mail just almost anything BUT NOT sharp objects, exposive, or flammable. Ask window clerks if it's okay to mail it. IF they say fine then mail it.

Have fun
