First Pak Deaf Sports Gala concludes | Pakistan | News | Newspaper | Daily | English | Online
The first Pakistan Deaf Sports Gala held at Pakistan Sports Board and Mega Zone, F-9 Bowling Hall organised by the Pakistan Deaf Sports Association concluded here on Sunday.
The children and their coaches using the V sign and conveyed with the help of interpreter to the participants present at the concluding ceremony that they have organized the first event in a befitting manner and requested the government to make steps to ensure their participation in the international events and enable them to bring laurels for the country.
The organizers complained that they have made all the arrangements themselves without any support and any sponsorship. A source on condition of anonymity revealed to this scribe that all the arrangements including providing of food and other essential things to the participants of the sports gala were arranged by the organisers while Pakistan Sports Board failed to provide any assistance to the organisers.
In Tenpin Bowling held at Mega Zone Adnan of Islamabad got first position while Zeeshan Ahmed of Lahore (second) and Qasim (Islamabad) bagged third position. In the swimming at the Pakistan Sports Board Swimming Pool, Tanveer Ahmed of Lahore grabbed first position, followed by Mazhar Mehmood (Islamabad) second and Rana Naveed (Sheikhupura) third.
In Badminton doubles at the PSB Hamidi Hall, Saqis Ali Zahid and Irfan of Faisalabad won doubles title after defeating Fazal and Mazhar Qayyum of Sargodha in the finals.
In the ladies badminton doubles, Ayesha and Farha (Mirpurkhas) beat Sadaf Hafeef and Amina (Islamabad) in the final to become the ladies champions.
In the Snooker event at the PSB billiards and snooker hall, Usman of Rawalpindi grabbed the top position after beating Arshad of Lahore in the final.
Syed Amir Hamza Gilani, DG PSB, Zubair Hashmi, SSP, Islamabad, Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, DG (Technical and Training) PSB were the chief guests at the concluding ceremony.
Syed Amir Hamza Gilani, Director General Pakistan Sports Board, Zubair Hashmi, SSP, Islamabad, Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Director General (Technical and Training) Pakistan Sports Board were the chief guest during the concluding ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Ganjera said: “Efforts are being made to affiliate and register the Pakistan Deaf Sports Association with PSB to provide its players same facilities provided to normal players”.
He advised the PDSA to make arrangement to organize the first Deaf Olympics Championship in Pakistan and promised to request to the Prime Minister to inaugurate the championship.
