Fire Erupts At Home Of Deaf Mom, Blind Dad - News Story - WPLG Miami
A fire erupted Monday in a duplex occupied by four children, their deaf mother and blind father, fire-rescue officials said.
It happened sometime after noon at 148 N.W. 57th St.
According to Miami Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Ignatius Carroll, the fire started in one residence and spread to the adjacent residence occupied by two adults and two children. Nobody was injured in the fire, but both families were displaced.
Fire investigators were trying to determine if lightning in the area sparked the blaze. They said it appeared the fire started in the children's bedroom.
On the side where the fire started, family members said they heard a loud bang like an explosion.
