A COMPANY has reached out to three deaf students and a sign language interpreter through a donation of $2000.
The plight of sign language interpreter, Rita Miller and the three deaf students at Gospel High School took a turn for the better when Golden Manu-facturers Ltd donated $2000.
The money was donated to the Fiji Disabled People's Association and the Fiji Association for the Deaf.
"We are more than happy to assist in the education of disabled students and we commend Gospel High School for their initiative in integrating the students into the mainstream curriculum," said the company's managing director, Mohammed Ashif Razak, on Wednesday.
"Golden Manufacturers is committed to supporting and assisting the community and we admire Ms Miller's dedication in interpreting for deaf students so they may have a better future like everyone else," said Mr Razak.
Sajendra Sharma, the advocacy officer for FDPA, said they were very grateful for the support because it meant that the deaf students would be able to continue their studies next year.
"The donation from Golden Manufacturers will be enough to cover Ms Miller's wages for the rest of this year and it comes at a perfect time to continue on from the donation made by the Fiji Development Bank and another private donor earlier in the year," said Mr Sharma.
The cheque will be presented to the association, which will manage the money.
