Extremist group demands governors resign, FBI says

It boggles my mind why people have to wait for something to happen before they "step up security" Security should be tight at all times especially since 9/11

Problem is that the number of police has actually declined over the years in NYC.

you might want to research on why is that and what has been done. or you can take my word as New Yorker who has been here for over 25 years (not by looking thru window from my NJ condo).

yes it is true that the number of NYPD officers has been reduced (as confirmed by my NYPD friend) and NYC has increased the number of parking ticket officers. Since parking ticket officers walk on street, inspecting each cars at more frequent shorter periods - this enables NYPD to look for any suspicious activity.

Because of 9/11 and reorganizing/creating NYC's counter-terrorism initiative.... more and more NYPD officers are specialized but this costs money so reduction in NYPD officers is needed but only useless ones are gone. Having more parking officers helped fund our NYPD operations because of revenue it brings in. NYPD's recruitment standard has been upped. It is more streamlined and efficient. We have several specialized rapid-response teams and protocols (my best friend trained with them, shared his military experience with them). We have several mobile command units (bus) and high-tech, sophisticated communication center (it used to be located at WTC but now relocated to a more secured location). We have over 35,000 officers.... the largest police force in USA. (2nd largest is about 13,000 in Chicago). We also have over 4,000 Auxiliary police officers and over 5,000 school safety officers. NYPD budget is approximately $4 billion or more.

Just because the reduction in number of police officers do not mean our security ability has been reduced. same for increasing number of officers. adding 5,000 useless cops means nothing.

Mind you - this is a major metropolitan area. NYPD works together with Port Authority (over 1,500 officers), 2 State Polices (NJ/NY), NY/NJ National Guards, and FBI. Together - oh yea we have plenty enough manpower :cool2:

Proof? You just saw how rapid and efficient our responses were in US Airway crash and apprehending car bomber. Don't worry koko - we're fine here. Just tend to your million-square miles forest. It's hot and dry this time of the year. I hope you remain vigilant for any little fire especially since you're so fully entrenched in Tea Party or black thing! :cool2:

I am sure that is true. In this country we wait for a disaster to happen before we react. Then we become lax over time and then forget until disaster strikes again. Then the cycle starts over.

I wasn't asking you if you have a credit card. I posed a hypothetical question.

Would you max out your current credit card in order to pay off your other already maxed out credit cards bills?

Short answer is no because I don't want screw my credit score up.

Ok. And what do you think the U.S. credit rating is like now?

I don't give a damn about US credit rating.

I'm just care about myself as individual responsibility.

That's fine. So, the govt shouldn't have to pay back loans to countries?

Your tax dollars go toward paying their budget.

If you honestly don't care, why you're still paying taxes?

I don't work anymore so I just pay so nothing in taxes.

They should to do because don't want become default.

The gold-plated credit rating of the United States — an article of faith across America and, indeed, around the world — may be at risk in coming years as the nation copes with its growing debts.

That sobering assessment, issued Monday by Moody’s Investors Service, provided a reminder that even Aaa-rated United States Treasury bonds, supposedly the safest of safe investments, could be downgraded one day if Washington failed to manage the federal debt.
Moody?s Warns U.S. Debt Could Test Triple-A Rating - NYTimes.com

If the U.S. is unable to pay back loans it affects their credit rating because of a growing debt problem unable to pay it, such a scenario will affect us eventually.

You're on SSI/SSDI. Why are you on it if you don't care? The government can easily kick everyone off of SSDI to pay back loans if the people think it's a good idea.

Don't say it won't happen; disabled people the elderly had thought the same elsewhere, and found themselves up a creek without a paddle.

because they don't need my attention so I know that they will handle on their own.

Okay, so I guess you don't care if you got kicked off.

Fine.

I believe that federal will handle it, in my view.

They can't if they continue to spend beyond the budgeted amount each year. Last year was $1.9 trillion over budget last year compared to end of 2008 at $420 billion. Until they reverse their spending spree there is no way the govt can get a handle on this. It needs to stop.

That's not my answer.

I do care about SSI/SSDI BUT... I BELIEVE that our government will handle on their own and it don't need our attention.

Sorry, I don't have choice because I'm not favor with GOP or conservative agenda.

Bad answer. It's still apathetic. Don't say "they don't need my attention" because it's a sign of apathy. When you do this, it implies you don't care what the government do with their federal programs.

Why do you think the government will be able to handle it?

Even a socialist can come up with a coherent answer.

Economy is still downturn so it does affect government spending.

I believe that our government is just fine and expects them to pay off the debt as soon as possible whatever they are work out with budget deficit, IMO.
