Exhibit shows Aycock's work to help NC deaf, blind - WBTV 3 News, Weather, Sports, and Traffic for Charlotte, NC-

A new exhibit at the state historic site in Fremont that was the birthplace of Gov. Charles Aycock documents the governor's role in improving educational opportunities for the deaf and the blind.

The exhibit is titled "Deaf and Blind Education in North Carolina" and features vintage photos, a timeline and a large Braille map of the state's counties.

Also included is a "Perkins Brailler," which allowed a student to write in Braille. And children can write their name in Braille at an interactive section of the exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display at the State Capitol in Raleigh starting next January.
