Xbox 360 Already In Modder's Hands

Saturday, August 27, 2005 - 13:32:55 EST

An Xbox modding group by the name of SmartXX has obtained three XDKs (Xbox 360 Development Kits) and has opened them up and taken a number pictures of its inter-workings. They even went as far as to remove heat sinks and other devices to show the entire motherboard.

Since this modding group was able to get their hands on the console… do you think they are just going to look at all the pretty parts? No, of course not. They have probably already started developing devices like they make for the Xbox to make it do whatever they want. With things like this happening already, it is possible that illegal third parties will already have mod-chips completely developed even before the console goes on sale.

With the current Xbox, anyone with $50 and some knowledge of electronics can install a mod-chip and do pretty much anything they want. This includes getting hacks for online games over Xbox Live. This is obviously a huge issue when people start cheating online. We are sure that their will be more protection against mod-chips in the Xbox 360, but with modders already poking around at it, it probably won't be long until mod-chips are being sold for the new console.

View the few images below, and over 40 images of the console can be downloaded here.

Hmmm I'll wait for an special edition that goes in a special color like the Halo special edition pack that is clear green.

then I might trade mine in for the special edition someday. :P

:werd:

Perhaps, it will be one of those chrome covers with the Halo design on it. Who knows, they might release a Halo 3 Collector's Edition Face Plate when they release the game or perhaps, a special combo deal where you buy the game and face place together for $10 less than if sold individually or free face place if you preorder the game? ;)

Looks hot.. But I wouldn't buy unless it does mod-chip-ability.. :naughty:
this sound like battle between the emulation software with modchip and the emulation software without the modchip..

I just suggest you gonna keep this core system for in case, what if your special edition got fucked up with hardware issues... you can change core case and speical edition case like motherboards twist inside case. you can send defective xbox360 to ms.. thats simple..
