ETSU's Silent Bucs student organization to hold Deaf Awareness Week events | TriCities.com
The East Tennessee State University student organization Silent Bucs will celebrate Deaf Awareness Week beginning Monday, Oct. 4.
Events include:
Monday, Oct. 4: An information booth in the D.P. Culp University Center Atrium from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and free hearing screenings from 8:30 a.m.-noon in Meeting Rooms 4A and 4B.
Tuesday, Oct. 5: A screening of the movie “Signs of the Times” in Meeting Room 6 of the Culp Center at 2:30 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 7: Deaf Culture Workshop with Libby Tipton from 2:30-4 p.m. in Meeting Room 6 of the Culp Center.
Friday, Oct. 8: A picnic and games from 1-5 p.m. in Metro-Kiwanis Park on Guaranda Drive.
Saturday, Oct. 9: From 8:30-10 a.m., individuals are invited to have breakfast together at the International House of Pancakes in Johnson City and then attend the 11 a.m. ETSU PRIDE Walk Dedication Ceremony in ETSU’s Alumni Plaza.
Later in the month, an American Sign Language Class will be held on Thursdays from Oct. 14 through Nov. 4 in Meeting Room 3 of the Culp Center and actor Lou Ferrigno will share his experiences with hearing loss on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Martha Street Culp Auditorium of the Culp Center
