Elvis is Irish???

Yes, but the Ford family is quite notorious when it comes to local politics. I was merely using that as an example of why I am skeptical of local governing bodies. Mayor Herington is another reason.

I understand now. Yeah that family is big in Memphis politics. I grew up hearing about them all the times while living in the Knoxville area. :)

I went when I was 8 years old. All I remember was Elvis' giant gun collection and Lisa Marie wouldn't let anyone go upstairs.
I didn't remember seeing gun collection there. The upstairs at Graceland is now open to the public. When we first visited Graceland, the hostess (or whatever they are called) said that one of Elvis' relatives (I believed it was an aunt) was living up there at the time. I was like maybe 9 or 10 at the time.

Yup. he ran back in 1999. Came in 3rd against 16 total candidates. Beat out by ole slick Willy of course, and John Ford came in 2nd.

Does the name Prince Mogo ring a bell?

I have met one of the Ford's brother, he was a counselor...
he counselled me about why I ran away from home a lot.

And he married that pretty black light skinned lady who was tv anchor for WMC news.

I think Harold Ford Jr, should be President one day.

I did email Lawler, and he said "Blow It!!!!"
And he did run over the Airport Security Guard's foot...
So no way, Lawler should not be Senate.

Lawler told you to "blow it!?" Wow. Nevermind.

You're right through, I think if there is one decent person in the Memphis area, its Harold Ford Jr.

I don't think Lisa Marie would care because there're a lot of Elvis look-alikes and wannabes. It is all about money, and attention.

Miss*Pinocchio- have you ever been to GraceLand in Memphis? I have back in the early 1980's with my parents when it was just started to open to the public! :) Would love to go back, but the area is what I disliked and it isn't really safe.

How come that area is not safety ?? We may go there for my honeymoon.

Elvis Prestley Blvd is considered a bad area of town. I think there is just as much crime in the Whitehaven area, if not in Midtown, Downtown, Frasier, Raleigh, heck, even some of Cordova.

The Crime here isn't like Los Angeles and New York....

Memphis is a quiet place, not much crime, just 1 or 2 people get killed
every month, and robbery....

But other than that, it is just quiet.

Actually Memphis has one of the highest crime rates in the country. I believe for awhile, we were number 1 for either violent crime or murder.

if you don't wanna live in Memphis, that is fine....

you can go live in New York, Washington Dc, and complain about blizzard every winter and shoving snow off sidewalk

and you can go live los angeles, and deal with all those acid rain,
pollution, prostitution, drug addict/dui entertainers, and earthquake...
be my guest.

I don't recall hearing about 'Prince Mongo' I just did a brief reading on him - a strange character.

Sabrina - cental34 just answered your question. :) Don't let that stop you from visiting Memphis as there are plenty of things to do and see (festivals, etc) in the city. The city has some of best barbecue restaurants in the country (USA) that you should definitely try.

You should order your free Tennessee vacation guide (magazine) - the magazine has got listings in three different regions (western, middle and eastern) of the state.

Miss*Pinocchio- let's not forget this... Memphis IS on the New Madrid Fault. It runs straight down the Mississippi. St. Louis is on that fault as well.

The website is very helpful ! :D We will be staying in Gatlinburg at the Log Cabin Rent house for a week to view Smoky Mountains. American Chopper used to be live in Knoxville, TN before. He will guide me around that area in East. We may stop by Dolly s fevesital. We are not sure about visiting to Memphis which is approx 4 hrs to drive. It would be very interesting for me to visit Greenland. I used to be fond Elvis in 1970's when I was teenager. ;)

I am surprised because the tourist is becoming very popluar in Memphis. I do not see why can't the law enforcement become more strict and keep the town clean for tourist safety and comfortable to vist Greenland as their vacation.

Town of Memphis should be proud because of famous Greenland visit. Why can't they keep that town safety. *perplex me*

Because there is a high crime rate, doesn't mean local law enforcement agencies aren't doing what they can. Please don't think that you're likely to get mugged or shot if you come to Memphis, that is not the case. But I am just saying that the crime is high compared to most cities. But for tourists, if Memphis was that dangerous, tourism here wouldn't exist.

Also, by Greenland, do you mean Graceland? :P
