WXVT-TV Delta News - More Local News and Weather WXVT.com | Education chief says deaf school student attacked

An elementary school student at the Louisiana School for the Deaf has been sexually assaulted by another, older student.

Superintendent of Education Paul Pastorek says the incident has been reported to state authorities and the chaperone who was supposed to be watching the students will be fired. The older student has been suspended, and Pastorek says he won't be allowed to return to school.

Pastorek says he doesn't know the extent of the sexual assualt. He wouldn't provide details of the ages of the students, saying federal law prohibits the identification of students in such instances.

The assault comes as state education officials were reviewing ways to improve security and safety measures at the school.

Oh boy, I wouldn't send any child to LSD after their lack of action regarding the abuse.
