The newest of my Canon printers, the IP6000D, that takes the BCI-6 ink cartridges is giving me trouble; so thinking about what next. I am a long time refiller but have not done any with the chips.

Need to be off to do some other shopping. Anyone have any suggestions even before I get into further details?

Can i refill my cannon cartridge myself. i think yes, but i do not know how! i have small cartridge so what should i do now if it is empty.

I searched the Internet and found a YouTube video that help you refill the ink cartridge. Look up in the comments for FAQs.

The video appeared to be easier way than other videos I looked up.

I'm not ink cartridge refiller but I do use a local ink refilling store for recycled ink cartridges for less price than retail version. It does recycling on used ink cartridges.

Some ink cartridge have "chipset" that prevent you from refilling. Be sure that you check website to find out if OEM cartridge are refillable. HP and Epson are not refillable unless you buy blank cartridges that have mod chips to allow you to reset it after refill. Those two companies are really greedy and sells OEM cartridges at high prices. I hate it when one of 4 cartridge ran out ink and it won't let me print until it's been replaced. Not even allow you to switch to Greyscale mode to use Black ink only when color ink ran out. They programmed it that way to force you to blow money on replacement.

Some Inkjet companies allow you to refill or buy refilled cartridges at low prices.

Those refill stores suck. I used them twice with different. Printers and both times the printing job was bad. Maybe a very few copiers will let you refil but the big money from printers is the ink so they will engineer out refill abilities. I got rid of a kodak printer becauze the updates always screwed. Up my computer and was a lot of trouble to repair.

That's why. :laugh2:

All depends on brand of printer, Some of them have no problem with refill, some of them don't.

Canon is very good brand!

Ink cost much more than toner.

Ink cost about 15¢ per letter and about 20¢-25¢ per letter with one color image
Toner cost about 3¢ per letter and about 10¢-14¢ per letter with one color image

Right, that is why I have two printers, one is Mono Lexmark 35 ppm laser printer and other one is Canon All in One color inkjet printer. The toner itself cost about $110 but it last for year and half to two years whereas inkjet alone ($65 for 4 cartridges) and only last about 1 to 1.5 month. So having both laser and color printers really save the cost. We only use color inkjet if neccessary like photo printing or color printing.. so now the ink cartridges last for about 3 to 4 months average.

Years do not count, Only paper count. :)

The Brother 4040 laser printer last around 5,000 papers. All toners cost around $100 each and it's prefect for the flyer. We are very happy with it. I still have the old Canon inkjet and it's GREAT for photo printer only. We are on the same page.

Yep but problem that too many people can't afford the laser printer. Like can't afford the electric car which it got $2 per recharge batteries for last around 150 miles. So everyone can afford inkjet and gasoline car with poor efficient.

Yeah, that is why we got Lexmark that can do both side printing and we do tons of printing, I don't keep track of how many paper we gone through, even we have box of 5000 sheets (10 packs) we brought year and half ago and only gone through 4 500 sheets packages so far. Both side save papers.

Oh yeah. I always use print both sides all times. We saved 50% of paper!
