There are no immediate reports of damage from a 4.6 magnitude earthquake that rattled the Seattle and Puget Sound area at 5:25 a.m. today.

But it woke a lot of people up.

The U.S. Geological Survey says it was centered 16 miles northwest of Seattle near Kingston. The preliminary magnitude could be revised.

The shaking woke up Robert Lyden on Anderson Island in Puget Sound. He says it fell like something had hit his roof. He says it knocked a water fountain off his deck.

Lacey Menne says it shook her house in Kingston as she was preparing to go to work at the Coastal Cafe. She says it shook longer than most little quakes.

Seattle radio and TV stations report callers around the Puget Sound area felt the quake.

Jeez--a volcano is possibly erupting in Alaska, Seattle is hit by an earthquake, what's going on here in the Northwest??! :ohno:

It's normally. The nasty push under the great Pacific Ocean.

I'm positive that I won't make it if a tsunami comes this way due to the force of power.....

sure you can - simply evacuate to just more than 20 miles away. you'll be fine.

THe closest higher ground is more than 20 miles away.

If an earthquake hits the coast in this area--the tsunami would be imminent.

Funny we are talking about this because I got an email from Pacific County Emergency Management Agency announcing that we are having a mandatory tsunami drill for the Peninsula due to the activity of Mount Redoubt in Alaska.

If that sucker erupts and causes a tsunami--at least I will have time enough to evacuate!

Yep, I slept thru the earthquake LOL. I didn't feel it at all. That quake was centered like about 5 miles away from my home. It's been a while I have felt an earthquake since the one in 2001.
