Gimme a minute.

Maybe it's just an ear infection. Those can hurt, too.

"Veteran" here...you'll really know if you've got a busted ear drum!...Very painful, with puss coming out, even blood.....ear infections are common with me also (life-long)...pain, aching, fever, pressure, headaches, drainage, etc.

See a doctor.

if there's bloody discharge then it could be a sign of a ruptured eardrum. either that, or it's an infection. hope you feel better soon :(

Warm towel on side that hurts, tylenol or aspirin, whichever is best for you UNTIL you see the doctor and make it soon. No more pain for you young lady!
Feel better sooner.

I have had very few ear infections, and all that happens is getting a red, swollen ear. But it hurts. So, young lady, if your ear is hurting, get yourself to a doctor pronto !!

Son of bitch.... My left ear was so bad, it was shut completely. I went to hospital and they said it was very brutal. I didnt eat for 3 days straight b/c I couldnt move my jaw. What happened? I dont know. I was drunk.

Ack! I hate those! I recently got an ear infection (I did wonder about a burst drum, but it still works when I manage to shove the damn earmold into my ear...so I don't think so.) and then I lost my hearing-aid. Just great. Life sucks.
It also makes me really wish I was placed with a Deaf family at adoption instead of with a hearing specialist who thinks she knows enough to forbid me from developing sign language as well as spoken English.
It has been bothering me a lot lately as my current problems also affect my job performance, specifically customer relationships. I am profoundly deaf in both ears due to bilateral cochlear deformity. I have a CI in my right, but I hear the same white noise that is nearly worthless for speech.
Silence in my left ear immediately puts me in a box of plastic that I cannot leave until the damn infection clears up and I either find the damn hearing-aid or buy one. Buying a new one is such a huge pain in the ass as they are so damn expensive and I have no insurance.
So...no sign language, no back-up plan, thanks a lot Mum. Seriously, I am so pissed off right now.
By the way, as long as I keep taking the iboprofen and yawning on purpose to let off the pressure a bit, I feel no pain. I actually feel a little stoned...similar to when the docs doped me up really good for the CI in the first place. (CI happened when I was 18, not as a child.)
My big idea is that I should really learn ASL before I lose the rest of my hearing altogether and get involved with the deaf community. Yeah, I could try a second CI, but my left is malformed just like my right, so I wouldn't count on it too much. If I could just become fluent with ASL, that could just turn out to be my saving grace. So far, I have mastered some basics like the finger signed letters, some counting, a few basic words here and there. But I would really love it if I became fluent enough to function with ASL. English? All fine and good, if I could figure out what the hell they're saying.

I would say if you're in pain then it's an ear infection which could rupture the eardrum so do get to the doctor to have it looked at. If it does rupture then the pain is not so bad. Most ruptures will heal themselves but if it doesn't your ENT can fix it with surgery.

My son woke up worth blood, and puss on his pillow when he was three. He never complained, but it was ruptured. I would use warm compresses to help with the pain, with pain killer. I pray you feel better quickly.

Ear Pressure

Im deaf and have trouble driving up a little altitude. ears hurt really bad. What happens when you fly???

Are ear infections common when your deaf!! My ears hurt a lot. I just figured it's from the initial trauma.

I have flown on airplanes before. Just as long as you remove hearing aids and yawn as you go up, you'll be fine.
