Los Alamos residents Mary and Jules Dufour recently received the Golden Halo award for outstanding service to the New Mexico State Good Sams Organization and for contribution to Dogs for the Deaf.
The Dufours are founding members of Pajarito Sams, a chapter of the New Mexico State Good Sam Organization. They have collected, crushed and sold nearly 40,000 pounds of aluminum cans, raising $20,000 for Dogs for the Deaf during their 11-year membership in Pajarito Sams.
Dogs for the Deaf is a charity organization that rescues appropriate dogs, trains them as hearing assistants and places them with appropriate recipients. A dog has been placed in Albuquerque in Pajarito Sams' name.
