One morning I looked inside the pen and found that one of my ducks, Ducky, laid two eggs. I was so excited - it's the first time she laid eggs. She didn't seem interested in keeping them warm and abandoned them. Obviously, they're not fertilized so I took the eggs and cooked them the next day.

Wow, the eggs are really good! The taste is better than what I get from commercial eggs so I am excited to have weekly eggs from my Ducky. :)

Tidbit: females can lay eggs even if they have never mated. All females have eggs - they just need sperms to fertilize but in birds, female birds keep making eggs even if they're not fertilized. They just lay and abandon them eventually. So why let them rot? Collect them and eat them. It's nutritious. Eggs are wonderful gifts!

I once met a woman that bird for a pet and bird was laying eggs . The woman told me that she was up set as the eggs were not hatching! She only had that one bird! I guess her parents did not tell her about the birds and the bees! I tried to tell the woman the bird was not married and that why the eggs were not hatching! She did not get it!
