It's scary that pharma companies are aggressive at marketing their drugs for unapproved use even though pharma companies promised not to market them for non-approved use.
But at the same time, I have mixed feelings because it's well known that many drugs can actually help treat conditions that FDA has not yet approved but how much can a company influence doctors to "off label" prescribe?
My doctor does it frequently with me and I have no issues at all. For example, he said I should try an approved drug for depression but since it could make you sleepy, he suggested I take it for insomnia even though FDA does not approve for that drug despite knowing that drowsiness is a well known side effect. It's puzzling.
