Anybody got DROID from Verizon? Do tell us all about it!

I've been considering ditching T-Mobile BB for it :hmm:

My roomie's brother is a techhie and has both BB and Droid right now. He said something about the BB having something better as in typing or something -- I'll ask him and get his review to you.

He said this:

Regarding the Droid, it offers a user interface that is lightning fast compared to a BlackBerry, obviously the touchscreen (no, the storm doesn't count), the web page rendering is far superior in speed and the orientation of images and text, there are more applications available for the Android platform, navigation is also built into the platform, more memory for applications.

The only things that I miss about the BlackBerry are the keyboard (seriously, I love a BlackBerry keyboard; they are the best) and the secure BlackBerry Messenger client. Outside of those two, I don't miss my BlackBerry at all.

Same here.. that is why I wanted to post the topic "Wanting to clear things with wireless servers" to be sure...

I wanted more feedbacks before I jump over to Verizon to get that device....

One more thing, I learned it does not have instant messengers... so I wondered if we are able to download them to use or never will be able to??? For me, it is not really required since texting is no problem for me but it would be cheaper if I did have the messengers.

that did help some. Did you have to pay little more then you did with Tmobile?
I see that people have trouble with texting on that kind of keyboard it has... I am going to check with other models to see if they are any better on keyboards.

I contacted the director of Verizon Wireless' corporate communication office to share frustration about confusing/conflicting info regarding their data-only plans. The $34.99 plan does NOT cover smartphones like the Droid. Some resellers have been listing a $49.99 unlimited data / no-voice plan but that is wrong...it is really only for business customers because it does NOT include messaging (text/SMS, MMS, picture messaging). The correct Verizon Wireless plans are listed here: Nationwide Messaging Plans

I want to get the Droid but ... vibrate is weak! Also no way to repeat/remind vibrate for email if you did not feel it first time. You can get "Missed Call" app to add repeat reminders for text messages, calendar, alarm, etc. But nothing so far for email. Verizon plan is expensive. Maybe worth it for Droid if good vibration and repeat reminder for email. But so far seems Sidekicks (ugh...cough...smile) or Blackberry are better fit for us due to better vibration and reminders.

Maybe someone here found way to improve use of vibrate on the Droid?? Hope so!!

DROID by Motorola

Hi folks,

Can you access Internet Web based services with the DROID to make Relay phone calls, specifically VCO calls? The iphone G3s has this feature. I want to hook up to an Internet Service like WebCapTel On the Go, Sprint IP, Sorenson's IP, i711, etc. So, has anyone out there figured out a way to get through to Relay on their DROID phones to call hearing people? Thank you!

Bari
