North Dakota with an unemployment rate of 4% is the lowest of any states with thanks to growing oil production whose state is now ranked 4th, ahead of Louisanna.

You want to know the secret to lower the unemployment rate? Open up the oil drilling whether it's conventional or unconvential oil wherever they're available for access. The North Dakota example is living proof the with increase in domestic oil production means more jobs and more money re-circulated back into the states.
 
More oil discovered in North Dakota that rivals the Bakken oil field.

A new state study says an oil reservoir in western North Dakota holds nearly as much recoverable crude as the rich Bakken shale formation above it.

The study released Thursday says current technology could lead to the recovery of about 1.9 billion barrels in the Three Forks-Sanish formation.

The Three Forks is made up of sand and porous rock directly below North Dakota's portion of the Bakken formation, which has been estimated to hold 2.1 billion barrels of recoverable oil.

If you're looking for a job maybe move to North Dakota since unemployment rate is at 4%. And with this new oil discovery I'm sure more jobs will be created soon enough.
 
Estimates from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) say that the deposit could hold as much as 503 billion barrels of oil alone, this figure doesn’t reflect the natural gas either. In 1995 the estimate was in the area of 151 million barrels recoverable, but breakthroughs in technology has made it possible to find out and recover more. The new estimates are that 3.65 billion barrels can be recovered. The natural gas estimates in the newest report show that there are 1.85 trillion cubic feet recoverable along with 148 million barrels of gas liquids. Montana Financial Analyst, Terry Johnson, said “When I first briefed the legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hitting the floor, they had no idea.”

Why Aren’t We Getting It Yet
It has been shown that there is more than 8 times the amount of oil here only recently. Also horizontal drilling, necessary for extraction in this area, is a fairly new method of drilling. But even with this technology available, the environmental activists and other groups such as Opec have rallied against drilling in the area. There are a few companies drilling there though, one area, the Sanish/Three Forks area, has wells that are producing more than 3000 barrels per day, but presently drilling is extremely limited.

And you wonder why North Dakota unemployment rate is the lowest of all 50 states? And at 4% which could go even lower as drilling continues to expand?
 
there are other jobs than oil drilling like.... green technology. oh wait - I'm guessing they can't cuz the immigrants took the jobs. it's not employer's fault for hiring immigrants who are more educated and hardworking... maybe if unemployed people stop using "gimmi gimmig gimmig" attitude... they'll have a shot.
 
North Dakota looks beautiful but the climate.. um, no thanks. The climate is extreme there.

Gotta love North Dakota's socialist bank and its "socialist" state tax rates on the rich.

But oil drilling there? Sure. Go ahead.

How? Texas has plenty of them and we may have a few oil accidents but the impact on environment is pretty minimal compared to oil spills in ocean.

it takes 1 bad disaster to ruin everything. Exxon-Valdez. Deepwater Horizon. Hudson River (not oil spill but illegal dumping by corporations and 3 Miles Island).

I'm basically surrounded by several super-funded sites :lol:
 
Don't like oil, then please, please do not drive your vehicles or motorcycles for that matter.

There are pros and cons when it comes to oil. But without it, this nation wouldn't be as prosperous. Technology today is much better than it was 20, 30, or 40 years ago in mitigating risk to our environment.

never said I don't like oil but oil drilling is not the only solution. there are other ventures for job opportunity..... like green technology.

No one suggests that they'll stop using oil. Of course, some people are irrational with fear of oil.

But you are right about safety of our oil production. Remember, back then, we had lead rain and we had unregulated oil production that often ended horribly. Air pollution was common in L.A.

Now, we have stronger pollution regulations and safety requirements and we've been doing much better despite producing oil several times MORE than ever. If not for regulations, we'd be dying sooner.

But honestly, do you think the safety regulations would have happened if not for the government? I think not. It's when the government needs to set up regulations to establish standards for oil safety.

I can imgaine that, however oil drilling is fine if well regulated but it does shit happen, sometime.
 
There are lots of jobs there already. Land is cheap. They could drill all over the place, spill oil all over the ground, and nobody would notice. Sounds like a perfect solution. :wave:

Why do you suppose there is no mad crush of new residents? Might be because it is a cold, flat, desolate state. Harsh climate. No trees. Little water. I am not too far from there, but no thanks.

Maybe they could open a few brothels? State and privately owned casinos? Worked for Nevada.
