Dog survives trash compactor

East Brunswick? That's about 45 min away from me. I volunteered at Dog Shelter at Teterboro. It's very unfortunate that my shelter recently changed to a new controversial & unpopular policy this year - now it's a high-kill shelter due to budget cut and high volume of abandoned/surrendered dogs in the capacity for long time. For past several years, it was a no-kill shelter.

Like Dixie said -

or maybe insufficient amount of dosage. euthanization drug costs money

Why don't you adopt the dog?

:)

You quitted because of this new policy?

oh no no - I just didn't have time. I had overloaded semester + internship + work for 2 semesters. Maybe I'll go back again. What I did there is to walk dogs around for "stretch its legs" and to improve its behavior with people to make itself presentable for prospective adopter. I do my best to encourage people to adopt one and being informed about the situation.

I already have one and my mom is afraid of medium/big dog. My dog prefers the be the only one in the household. There are several times when I want to adopt one at the shelter but it sucks to live in apartment where there is a strict pet policy. I've managed to get a few of my friends, my landlord, and my neighbhor to adopt either cat or dog at my shelter so that made me happy.

1: when a dog is killed because nobody wants it, then survives, and suddenly everyone wants it...because it survived being killed when no one wanted it.

Imagine the dog being in the garbage hopper and the packer blade pushing at 35,000 lbs of crushing pressure. That dog is very lucky to escape not only that, and she survived euthanize.. which is one die hard puppy for sure :)
