Litter Pollution

Litter must not be left in the streets, parks, or open spaces. In the case of picnics in the country, all litter must be collected and taken home for disposal. The dumping of rubbish in country areas, woods, or training areas is strictly forbidden. In 2003 new fines for litter pollution were imposed. They are as follows:

Discarding of:

Cans = €20
Chewing gum = €10
Cigarette Ends = €10
Banana Skins = €10
Plastic = €10
Glass = €30
Dog excrement = €30
Urinating in public = €50

Dogs
All dog owners are responsible for ensuring that their dogs do not foul footpaths or public areas. For the first offence it is a fine of €150. If your dog does cause a mess clean it up immediately - take your Pooper Scooper with you. If your dog fouls a children's play park or sand pit your licence to keep a dog in families accommodation will be withdrawn.

Section 11.16.040 Animal excrement removal.

A. A person who owns, possesses or controls an animal shall remove any excrement deposited by the animal upon any street, gutter, sidewalk or other public area.
B. A person is in compliance with this section if the person removes the excrement and carries it away for disposal or places the excrement in a bag, wrapper, or other container and deposits it in a litter receptacle.
C. This section does not apply to a person who has a physical handicap which would prevent the person from complying with the requirements of this section.
D. A person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a municipal infraction and is subject to a fine as established by resolution of the city council. (Ord. O-5-04 § 1 (part), 2004; Ord. O-1-99 § 1 (part); prior code § 17-34)

We have similar laws on the books. One thing I do like about the community I live in is they have little trash cans and provide little baggies to pick up after your pets. Its made a big difference in the doody department.

And in Huntington Beach, California youre required to be in possession of a 'container' for picking up the doggy doo while you walk your dog. Ticket if you dont have it on you whether your dog went or not.

We have similar laws in South Carolina, especially on the beaches.

Some dogs carry their own bags, attached on special collars, leashes, or harnesses.

In downtown Charleston, the horses are required to wear "diapers" when they are on the streets.

We got a free dog leash box for plastic bags attachment from the Council!

Australian fine is $100 if I don't pick up dog's business. In the Uk their fine is 1,000 pound sterling - very expensive!!!
