Does TV tuner on PC will work with Directv/Dish?

There is HD Stick 500e with EyeTV for Mac. It work wonderful as it support CC during LIVE mode and after record.

EyeTV program for Mac is amazon and easy to use once register with TitanTV that allow connect to make easy select on schedule of what shows to choice. Unfortunately, I wouldn't able to choice two shows at same time (schedule) to record. :( On Thursday, I want to see both Rock 30 and Smallville. Damnit!!!
 
I know this is an old topic but I wanted to add that I am using SageTV for my PVR and it have a nice CC text on transparent background.

I am using PVR500 and 2 directv box connect to it so I can record 2 different show or record 1 show and watch different show etc. SageTV have CC and also someone wrote a nice CC plugin for improve CC and allow CC playback in HDTV tuner card too.

Pacman, you do not need a HDTV or TV turner If your monitor has a component port, and then that's it.

How about DVI? It can used on HDMI to DVI adapter?

My monitor don't have component port, only DVI and VGA.
