It's beautiful, I love quilts, someday I would like to learn how to make them.

Yes, quilting is very much an art, and it can also be a useful art. A painting won't keep you warm and snugly the way a quilt can! :)

Heh, everything in this world is art, if you think about it.

*Chuckles* at Reba's comment. So true...

Some people make cute little quilts for the children at our local children's cancer hospital. Those children are in the hospital sometimes for many months. It's a sweet comfort for the children and their parents to have a handmade special gift like the quilt.

I was at the hospital bedside when my little friend died. She and her momma had that special quilt over them as they snuggled during her last hours. After the little girl died, the momma kept the quilt with her, and wrapped it around herself for comfort. It was very precious to her.

I know some quilting guilds also make quilts for wounded servicemen and women while they stay in the military hospitals.

People who quilt bless many other people with their gifts. :)

I, too, also think quilting is an art. It has different layouts, so and on.

Of course, the handmade quiltings are always the best.

What kind of layouts do you usually go for?

When I was at an amish restaurant, they also have a small "general" store that is adjacent to the restaurant which sells different stuffs and of course they have quilts there. The funny thing is, the pricing of one quilt can be really EXPENSIVE! :eek3: There was one with a double wedding ring layout on the quilt and I wanted that one because it was beautiful but it was like around $300! Yikes, haha. Nothing beats a handmade one. :)

Of course it is art. I am not good at quilting but others done so beautifully. It is same with painting, I am not artist on those painting as others do. :) You have done beautifully.

Its beautiful. I envy those who can sew quilts.

And yes, it is considered an art. Some art theorists may consider it craft, but I don't see a difference between art and craft (quilts hang in art museums, and paintings are sold at crafts fair). Its art with an instrumental value- meaning it has a greater good beyond itself (in this case- the greater good of warmth and the greater good for your friend to show his pride).

Nice work!!

Yes, it's an art and a craft. :)

The art is in the designing (including the color and fabric choices, and arrangements), and the craft is in the production skill.

Maybe it's "art" when it hangs on a wall, and "craft" when it covers a bed. ;)

But it's all beautiful.
