Does Ivy League Students do this?

We go to nice restaurants, but not on regular basis like you do... PFH.

We don't have money to throw away.

i doubt PFH goes to nice restaurants on regular basis otherwise he wouldn't have any poker $$$ to play with

true story - many people have shitty $30/plate. unfulfilled. we just know where to eat a good $30/plate. Quality over Quantity. A quality $30/plate is worth as much as 2 crappy $30/plate so we basically saved $30 extra.

Not always.

I dine with Ivy League students all the time. They don't :eek3: over $30/plate.

.... but I did cuz I was just a state college student. One year at Ivy League is enough to pay for my 4 years of state college. :(

When I saw this thread, I was like oh no is Matajan unbanned now?

I have been to one restaurant where the food was almost this expensive per person and that was 25 years ago. The guys that took me was "oh so fantastic" and no, it wasn't my hubby. I didn't know hubby then. It was an engagement dinner for us, but shortly after that, he had a terrible car accident, almost died and we broke up. His choice. He changed so much, he wishes he died. He broke off all friendships he had before the accident. His breakup with me was because I was too much of a reminder of his previous life. He was hit by a drunk driver, his truck flipped 3 times, he went through the windshield between 2nd and 3rd flip. Ended up 500 feet from the truck and his truck was flattened. Driver had no injuries at all. Ed ended up with a broken left leg in 5 places, 6 broken ribs, a punctured lung, broken collarbone and fractured neck. He has a rod in his leg and an electrical something or other that send mini-jolts to his left leg so he can pick it up. It never stops jumping so he never sleeps. He used to be really sweet and kind, but turned into a very cynical hateful person. He finally committed suicide 7 years after the accident since he never felt comfortable. The driver at the time of the accident, his blood alcohol was 12 times the legal limit, he was driving with a suspended license and had no insurance. He was doing 85 in a 40 MPH zone. He was sentenced to 10 years in jail and was murdered while in prison. Good riddance to him. I still miss Ed.

Wow. I bet that was hard. I had something similar but we never even dated, I just had a crush on this person back in junior high and he died in a motorcycle accident about 2 years ago. While he was popular, for some reason he tried being nice to me. He ended up getting bad into drugs and was in and out of rehab all throughout high school. He eventually dropped out. He did 2 or 3 years in prison then when he got out he got cleaned up and got his act together. He got his GED, met a girl, had a daughter and was living in Texas going to mortician school to become a licensed mortician. He had been sober since the day he went to prison and was making an honest effort to get his life together. He was only 25 when he died. :(

PFH: Bellagio's Breakfast Buffet on a Sunday was around $30+. All I ate was fruits and a slice of french toast because I couldn't find any fruits on the strip! Best Breakfast ever.

Our group ate out for like 2 weeks straight and it got really tiring eating junk...re: no fruit.

Other than that, dates can get easily pass $30 around Sac. I really need to get my own place. I'd rather cook.

I like the Dinner buffet at The Mirage. $28 and totally worth it.

As for $30 a plate......Rare for me. Good Sushi places every once in a while. And on dates. The buffet at Stars and Mavericks games was close to that much but I am not there to go anymore.

never ate at the Mirage but man, talk about shooting fish in a barrel over there. Super touristy/easy action.

Sushi I'll easily drop $30 if it's two rolls and double that for the date. Anything else, no. Same here, hard to find a good dish to come back to at $30. I mean thats the same as 60 Jack 'n the Box Tacos!!!:D

I just paid $25/meal last night for a professional dinner. I consider that it was the best $25 ever spent :) For networking purposes, it was totally worth it.

PS: $25 was the student price, others paid $60 for their meal.
