Does anyone have Directv?

There is no quarantee that they would work during severe storm. It is because the dish is so small, it recieves limit amount of signal and that much of storm gets in the way, too much signal is lost. But if you got 4 foot dish, then it shouldn't be problem, but again you'd have problem dealing with complaints from neighbor as eyesore of that huge dish.

Yea, I called DTV and they gave me full credit cuz I almost missed all matches of Vengeance PPV (roughly 2 hrs out of 3 hrs event)... I wonder if I add mini house for satellite dish and it will works during bad storm?? Haha!

Sure! That is Time Warner and the only cable operator in this area. They did ask me why I don't have cable tv. I said because I LOVE DTV!!! The reps said, well, we offer what DTV don't offer, my response to this reps is... Yes, that is right, and that Time warner offers annual rate increase which DTV don't offer. That reps GULPED!!!! She then became speechless and I said have a good day, bye sk. That is it. LOL I laughed so hard.

I dislike Dish Network because we got one in 1999 and disconnect in 2001 after contract is expired then we switched into cable again and call cable companies to upgrade into digital cable then we got bundle with cable and high speed internet, it was good deal also we got discount too. We only paid $120 with all bundle with digital cable and high speed internet, also no contract required. Both of Dish and Directv required contract, required more equipment and charge monthly for local channel (broadcast). Dish is easier to get screw up from horrible weather and enjoy to see dishes that roll on road and cannot watch TV until recover, or add new dish. You need add phone lines to order something from receiver the cable don't need add one, also people are required to sign contract then stuck with it for 1-2 years then that impossible. Who cares with annual rates but our cable companies don't increasing annual rate except for basic cable, most cable companies are encourage people to upgrade into digital cable, also get digital receiver or HD receiver and save alot of money.

Have you tried DirecTV? I did comparing between DirecTV and Dishnet and I do not like the way DishNET is doing in their business. THe difference is that DirecTV do NOT rent the reciever and that DishNET do NOT sell the reciever, but rent it out. And that the DishNET is rather little more expensive than DirecTV. OFC I understand that 1 and 2 year contract. That is mainly because they give you free equipment, in return they want something. Local cable, they don't have contract, BUT they *DO* charge you to connect, or reconnect if you move. I personally do not like stupid, fancy policy that local cable operator got. That is why I stayed away from them.

Directv have much more channels than Dish Network does.

What you doing in 70's and 80's? There's no Directv or Dish Network until around 90's.

I do not know how DishNET works. I never use them, have you tried DirecTV? There are really two different companies DTV and DishNET.

If not then you get one...

I hate it because channels are too limited but it's free to get it.

I don't bother with cable...I do like cable but my choice is either internet or cable TV...I'd rather have internet than cable TV.

Maybe in the future when I can afford it I will have both. But for now...HIGH SPEED INTERNET!!!

Of course, high speed internet via cable is alot better than DSL.

I hate DSL for several reasons, much as phone lines are crap.

Some apartments would allow dish. Some don't. Depends on landlord who love cable or dish. LOL. I like dish because of many channels and good price for example. Comcast digital 145 channels 59.99. Dish network 180 for 49.99.
About weather, there is problem for dish. Cable had no problem. Negative that you can not change what you want on cable. You can change everything on dish like using internet that you want to add programs.

I noticed that people in overall that prefer into dish than cable. Because of price and more channels. Good quality picture. Less hassle. No long wait appointment. Comcast cable is worst customer service and long appointment. Some never show up and came late that suppose to come in time between.
What I had been through experience with dish and cable. I realized people are right that dish had excellent customer service. Always on time and set up easy as less 5 minutes. With comcast, I wait and they called me. Come on! I am deaf. They used cell phone to call me!. Dish dont call me and they stopped by. Why need to call?? I told them before that I am deaf and told them to stop by.If I don't answer the call and they don't come. That is why it is worst. Anyone had that problem before?

I like comcast for internet high speed. I hate to see price goes up as 10 dollars more if I dont use cable television. That's stupid. Getting DSL is okay but not fast speed enough. Biggest advantage that my neighbors using dishes now. No sharing! Who knows!

I agreed with u abt Comcast is worst customer service cuz when my digital cable box and high speed internet install and little had problem, I called Comcast abt this and they sent technical support, but it never show up for 3 weeks and finally Comcast sent someone to my house and fix it...

Well if you're going to be moving to a new apartment, better ask the landlord first about allowing satellite dish before moving in to an apartment... :p

Well, not for our area but some part of LA have Comcast cable but some of my friends don't have problem with Comcast, and monthly bills for internet is little expensive than Time Warner. If deaf people need upgrade into digital cable then go apply at Comcast companies, just same when inform to them about technical support too then this person would give appointment but not late than one weeks. If you think that Comcast is doing bad in business then report to FCC then FCC will dissing at Comcast, or other something. Yea, some people have problem with Comcast because they don't have Fuel TV and Fuel TV is my favorite show but Dish Network don't have Fuel TV too.

I wish that Time Warner will buy and takecover all Comcast companies then switch into Time Warner then our problem will be solve.

Directv, Cox and Time Warner have Fuel TV. How about Qwest? You can subscribe it instead of Comcast.

Now my roommates complain abt DTV sux signal and I told them, I cant help cuz of very bad weather in DC since maybe 3 weeks or so... I wish DTV has WWE 24/7... If my roommates continue complain abt DTV and I guess I have to get Comcast digital cable box to make them happy...
