Does anyone enjoy meeting up over a hobby?

I have been to several Instameet (meet up with instagram community, to explore and taking photographs) and I enjoy it thoroughly even though I'm not a people person. I'm a lone wolf but I'm curious what other kind of meet up do you guys do out there, what do you do and do you enjoy it?
 
I don't go out much at all either (mainly due to money troubles) but in the past I joined a deaf bowling team and a deaf darts team; enjoyed both for the most part (I miss darts though). There's a website called MeetUp where you can find all kinds of groups. I belong to one related to QA testers/testing in my area- have gone to a couple of talks they set up.
 
Oh cool, That sounds great to go exploring for photography. Another one I would enjoy would be a meet up to go kayaking. I'll have to check around for local groups too! :D
