Just XP Home Edition. Do I need to upgrade to XP MCE since I dont use much digital video/photo?
 
I have tried it out and it's nothing special. No need to use it at all when Windows XP already provide several of those along with third party software.

Can't upgrade MCE, it is OEM, if your computer is fast 3.0mhz, TV Tuner, PowerDVD, WinDVD or Nviada Video Decode, you can buy OEM cost $130+ but need buy new hardware DVD Rom driver, Hard Drive, or some hardware, try www.newegg.com if no requires, can buy it, Careful about OEM, if you buy MCE2005 OEM Must first time only PC alone, cannot another pc becuase they connect to Microsoft infomation hardware like Spyware

I hope Vista MCE will retal next year or late 2006

Well. Almost 3.0ghz for Intel and 2.0Ghz for AMD Athlon64.

MCE 2005 for Enternments watch enjoy TV, DVR, Picture, Music, Radio, weather, on TV, not need use computer becuase if I have VCR Player, DVD Player, Photo player, more too heavy box on box on box on table also more plug power, MCE is ALL-in-ONE!

MCE2005 is big screen that in Living or bedroom I can read MCE2005 but I not read windowsxp home or prof like bad TV

many many people love MCE best! becuase it is all-on-one future, I hate buy vcr, dvd, etc.. if I buy HD-DVD player too much, easy buy HD-DVD device and can remove DVD-rom device stay one case!
 
Well, you are paying for convenience.

On the other hand, I rather handle it with third party software. Some programs such as MPC (Media Player Classic) serve just fine. For a HTPC, you can get an ATI AIW card bundle and use the remote control to your advantage. It really goes as far as you want to customize it.

Yes, I have MPC, I have K-Lite, it is very good many many than Media Player 10

http://www.k-litemegacodecpack.com/ for my computer only (not HTPC) that I have four computer! (3 for computer and 1 for HTPC)
