Mookie said:Just XP Home Edition. Do I need to upgrade to XP MCE since I dont use much digital video/photo?
rhr said:Can't upgrade MCE, it is OEM, if your computer is fast 3.0mhz, TV Tuner, PowerDVD, WinDVD or Nviada Video Decode, you can buy OEM cost $130+ but need buy new hardware DVD Rom driver, Hard Drive, or some hardware, try www.newegg.com if no requires, can buy it, Careful about OEM, if you buy MCE2005 OEM Must first time only PC alone, cannot another pc becuase they connect to Microsoft infomation hardware like Spyware
I hope Vista MCE will retal next year or late 2006

Yiffzer said:Well, you are paying for convenience.
On the other hand, I rather handle it with third party software. Some programs such as MPC (Media Player Classic) serve just fine. For a HTPC, you can get an ATI AIW card bundle and use the remote control to your advantage. It really goes as far as you want to customize it.
