FeiKu, I have heard of that possibility before too. I rather take my chances on real sugar....

I don't use them..I just used sugar...Soo I have no slight idea if it does cause cancer.

Any artificial sweetners like Splenda isn't good for ya. Yes, I think it can cause cancer if you use it too often. I rather use real sugar.

Well there are many things that cause cancer, even healthy food. But that is not the real concern. The real concern is that these fakeos and so-called "Diet" products. They are really MISLEADING people! Same idea, for years and years tobacco companies *KNEW* that tobacco does cause cancer, but refused to say anything until one person broke the silence that caught government attention. Can you believe for over 50 years, tobacco companies knew it all along. Why do you think none of Tobacco CEO do smoke? They KNEW it all along. I think these corporation do "Diet" business refused to reveal whats really going on just to rake in money! Do you think they would tell you outright and risk losing money? I don't think so.
So your bf is tellin you the truth. Sorry about it.

The research economist in me thinks, "Do people with susceptibility to cancer in the first place choose Splenda?"

Yes, you can tell I've spent too much time in academia.

Hi Fei Ku,

Real sugar 100 % natural is better.

Splenda is not good or safe. I think 20/20 t.v. news did a story on Splenda or was it 60 mintunes t.v. news. I am not sure but I do know they did ran a health warning story on Splenda.

Great website "Truth about Splenda":
http://www.truthaboutsplenda.com/

I just COPY these 2 paragraphs below
from various sources/forums about Splenda:

"Splenda is just nasty chemical that are
actually worse than eating sugar itself.
Splenda is a chlorination process of stripping out
the bad stuff from sugar "

Sucruose - Splenda
This is one of the newest, hottest man-made chemical sweeteners.
In my personal opinion, it is very deadly, poisonous and
makes you fat. It was produced so that
the food industry could capitalize
on the low-carbohydrate craze. Now, products can have
"no carbohydrates" or "low carbohydrates" and
still taste sweet. The problem is that it's unnatural,
it's artificial, and these man-made artificial sweeteners
do in fact increase your appetite, make you depressed,
cause all types of symptoms (including migraine headaches,
PMS, depression, fibromyalgia, allergies), and most importantly,
make you fat.
So stay away.

Please do not confuse "Splenda" (yellow packet) with "Sacharin" (pink packet). Sacharin is the one they used to think caused cancer but they could never show it caused cancer in humans.

FROM THE NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE:

Key Points

* Artificial sweeteners are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
* There is no evidence that the regulated artificial sweeteners on the market in the United States are related to cancer risk in humans.
* As new sweetening products come on the market, the FDA continues to investigate any possible short- or long-term health risks that these products might create.

Everyone are obligate to add warning labels on tobaccos. It sound that tobaccos don't have any warning labels on until after one person caught government attention? It look like that tobacco companies didn't know tobacco are bad health until happened.... ? It's not just tobacco but many foods/drink issues, we didn't know until happen..... - example about allergic people who are allergic to kind of food/drink additives, etc that why they are obligate to add "warning" labels on foods/drinks for allergic people...

Everyone are obligate to give us information about heath issue... It's our decision either we want to eat wrong or right foods... We can't sue company for affect our health because we know wrong foods affect our health... Health information are EVERYWHERE in websites, health conference, etc. etc. etc.

I love how y'all can just perpetuate a silly myth because you "believe" something could be harmful even when you have been provided scientitc documentation to refute the myth. The FDA does not want Americans to get cancer from foods we eat. Until you can pick apart their actual testing standards with your superior scientific skill and background, I am going to tend to believe what they say.

Sweetener Facts

There are a few "urban myths" about sweeteners going around.
It's time to set the record straight.

Myth: Zero-calorie sweeteners may be risky to consume. They cause all sorts of health problems, from multiple sclerosis to breast cancer.

Fact: The four major sweeteners on the market (aspartame, sucralose, saccharin and acesulfame potassium) are all safe. Each has been thoroughly tested and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as well as public health organizations around the world.

Tobacco companies LIED to congress for 50 years! That is what these multi-billion dollars lawsuits against tobacco is all about! Trust me, many companies rather lie to collect profit than to lose profits and face lawsuits anyway. I won't be surprised 20 years later, somebody is going to discover the truth.

Same with Asbesto, the company KNEW they were so cancerous for years until about 10 years ago, finally got sued too.

Remember, these CEO for corporation ARE liable for anything! EVEN if previous CEO screw up big time. That is why CEO aren't willing to reveal to save their face and asses.

Yea, "For now" they'd say safe then 20 years later they will make revision. So it is all BS, trust me. My work deals with FDA, and I know what it is all about.
20 years ago, FDA considered specific percent of lead content of lead in children to be safe, now they are thinking zero is really safe, and any lead is considered dangerous level! Can you believe that?
It TAKES time for anything to turn up wheather it is safe or not. Nobody knew lead was dangerous from 1900 to 1975. See, 75 friggin years for government to realize the danger. Also, it took 50 years for FDA to find that Tobacco is causing cancer and other disease... Tobacco companies lied for 50 years. SO I can bet that these companies we don't know which one yet KNEW it already and REFUSED to reveal!
