It's not very polite of me to say this but I will anyway: This thread gave me a good chuckle.

Same here too.. I thought it was funny to read all the comment.. I have 4 signs around the yard that say "BEWARE OF DOG" and it mean I have 2 big dogs (one is not dangerous and one is dangerous) and it got the kids and people out of my yard. I hate when people walking thru my property. AndI put 4 signs up around the yard and they back away.

Poor you.. Can't you read "DO NOT TOUCH THE CAGE". If you can't read, you should ask one of the employees in the Pet Store about what the sign say.

i guess that Miss P look for money!!!!

No, Tweety. Sometimes, you CAN sue if you've been wronged. In this case, however, she would lose if she sued. Why? Because, there was a sign posted. Had there not been a sign put up, she could have very well gone on and sued, and probably would have won her case.

No I just thought the bird would not bite me....

I was thinking if I gentlely and slowly touch the cage
in a friendly way... as to communicate the bird...

and it is just so mean, damn, it just bit me like "Fu*k off, will ya?" kinda bite.

You seemed to have good intentions, but you have to be careful. Birds are instinctual, and they will bite. My parents bred and raised exotic birds for several years, so I've been around birds. We hand raised ours, but even then, my Dad taught my sister and I not to put our fingers/hands in the cages. Nasty bites would result if we did. And, when I say nasty, I mean things like fingers being taken off and the like.

It's just not good to mess with a bird.

you just want to take them seriously when they say keep your fingers out of the cage. Some birds like macaws can bite a broomstick in half, and your finger is not as big as a broomstick, and is much softer. This is a pic of a macaw, im pretty sure you have seen one before.

Exactly.

Yeah I have seen Macaws before... break a broomstick in half?... gosh .

Yes. So, please. The next time you see a sign that says "Don't touch", do yourself a favor, and don't touch!

I think Miss P realizes it wasn't a good thing to do. No need to harp on it. Furthermore, you accused her of wanting the money. That makes YOU look bad, not her.

But, whatever. It's not worth it to me to get into this with you, so I'm gonna drop it.

And I won't touch the cage anymore either.... :fingersx:

*sigh* No, there was a sign up. You can't sue. It would most likely be thrown out. Your best bet is to live and learn. Just don't put your hands in birdcages.

But, I can truly understand why you thought the bird would've been friendly. It looked docile, probably. Like I said, I've had some experience since my parents raised birds. But, truthfully, you gotta admit, that putting your hand in that cage, was kinda dumb. :giggle:

She admitted she made a mistake, Tweety. Look again, dear.

I showed this thread to my 9 and 8 year old daughters. Both rolled up their eyes and said that they know enough to read a warning sign and back off. They know how animals whether it is a bird, cat, dog, bear, lion etc can attack if poke them inside the cage.

This stuff belongs to preschoolers - we all know better. :ugh:

I am happy that you use me as a "dummy". :ugh:

Miss P could ATTEMPT to sue, if she wanted to, I am just saying that, not putting words in anybodys mouth. There would also be a small chance that she might win, but she would spend more than she would recover.

I am saying there is a small chance she could win because I think back to 3 court cases I have heard of....

The lady who spilled McDonalds coffee on her crotch and burnt herself and WON in court because the coffee was HOT and there was no warning on the cup that it was hot.

An article I read about a burgular who climbed someones fence to break into their house, and was bitten by their dog.. Burgular sued and WON even though signs were up, and he was trespassing.

Another burgular who was breaking into someones house, fell from the window seal, and broke his leg. He sued and WON stating that the owner of the house was liable for his injuries because he got hurt on their property.

This is VERY RARE when these people actually win, but that shows how messed up our court systems can be sometimes.

I am not taking sides or putting anyone down in this thread, just something to think about with those stupid court cases where those people won. I still believe that what happened to Miss P was her fault, and she deserved what she had coming when she stuck her finger in the bird cage. And even though there are those few rare cases where those people won, I do not think Miss P would stand a chance.
