Dioxin Carcinogens causes cancer .

Especially breast cancer. Don't freeze your plastic water bottles with water as this also releases dioxin in the plastic.

Dr. Edward Fujimoto from Castle hospital was on a TV program explaining this health hazard. (He is the manager of the Wellness Program at the hospital.) He was talking about dioxin and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers .
This applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Dioxin are carcinogens and highly toxic to the cells of our bodies.
Instead, he recommends using glass, Corning Ware, or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results...without the dioxin.

So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. Just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.,

He said we might remember when some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Saran wrap placed over foods as they are nuked, with the high heat, actually drips poisonous toxins into the food, use paper towels .

Oh no... I always have frozen my water bottle. Jeeze !

I find this hard to believe. If this is true, it looks like I'm gonna die soon! I always microwave my food on paper or in plastic. I also freeze my water in bottles so they last long.

Looks like college students are being forced to suffer this horrible fate! They don't really offer glassware here at RIT. For those who do, it's a pain in the ass washing the glassware. That's why most students use paper or plastic. Jeez!

 if thats true.. good thing I don't do that.. I heat food in bowl .. not plastic..and i never freeze water bottles.. I think my mother in law does that.. will have to warn her about that.

Oh yeah she's in good health. She frequently checks up with her doctor often to make sure. The only thing she has is high cholesterol but other than that, she's fine. She tends to freeze her water bottles in the freezer.. sometimes microwave in plastic... so if that is true it causes cancer, I'll just warn her about that. Do you have a link showing this information? If so, please post it here so I can print it out and show her. Thanks! :)

I do not have the website. I got that information from a friend of mine in NYC. I asked her about this. She does not have the website either. We got this via email.

I hope, it is hoax because I tend to frozen my water bottles. I have 24 bottles of water in my car trunk with 25 minus blow zero last night and tonight. I hate to throw them away if it is hoax email or not ??

I did ask my doctor about this. She said, it is hard to tell right now because there is very difficult to evidence in science if it is causing cancer or not???

Here's something I've been thinking...

What if it's true, but has no serious effect because of how often we actually do this.

There's another fact that scientists have discovered. Artificial sweetener (aka Sweet-N-Low, Equal) gives you brain cancer. It has been proven on laboratory animals. Well, it's true. You can get cancer from eating artificial sweetener, after eating about 500 lbs of it in one day. See? How stupid is that? That's probably the same for the plastics and papers thing. In fact, we get all of our meat and cheese from the deli in paper and plastics. We might as well sue them if this was too serious. All meats are served in plastic at the store. They advertise vacuum-preserving plastic bags on television for use in the freezer so that the food lasts longer. We might as well sue those infomercials because of that. We might as well sue the store for even selling water in plastic bottles. Even milk! What if the light next to the milk has a tiny bit of heat and it affects small parts of various milk bottles. Everything is poisoned!? Agh!

Actually, this is all stupid. Everyone should stop worrying. We've been drinking and eating out of plastic for years, and we're still alive. Don't worry!

Email hoax

This was from the plastics .org website:

Can freezing a PET beverage bottle cause dioxins to leach into its contents?

This is the subject of another e-mail hoax. There simply is no scientific basis to support the claim that PET bottles will release dioxin when frozen. Dioxins are a family of chemical compounds that are produced by combustion at extremely high temperatures. They can only be formed at temperatures well above 700 degrees Fahrenheit; they cannot be formed at room temperature or in freezing temperatures. Moreover, there is no reasonable scientific basis for expecting dioxins to be present in plastic food or beverage containers in the first place

See? Everyone's just too damn paranoid.

Never believe what you get in email unless you seen an actual news article about it.
