McCartneys hire Charles and Diana divorce lawyers By Mike Collett-White
8 minutes ago

LONDON (Reuters) - Paul and Heather Mills McCartney have raised the stakes in their increasingly acrimonious divorce battle, hiring the same two lawyers who represented Britain's Prince Charles and Princess Diana when they split in 1996.

Mills, who married the former Beatle in 2002 and had a daughter, Beatrice, with him, has named Anthony Julius of leading law firm Mishcon de Reya to fight her side. Julius represented Diana in the divorce case.

"Yes. It was decided today," said Mills' spokesman Phil Hall on Tuesday, when asked to confirm Julius' appointment.

It has already been widely reported that McCartney had hired Fiona Shackleton, who acted for Britain's Prince Charles against Diana, to argue his case.

Britain's Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, but the marriage collapsed amid mutual accusations of adultery. They separated in 1992 and finally divorced in 1996.

When the McCartneys announced their separation in May, they promised it would be amicable.

But Hall confirmed on Tuesday that McCartney had frozen their joint bank account and sent a "legal letter" to his wife recently to complain after three bottles of cleaning fluid were taken from his Sussex home to clean Mills' nearby office.

McCartney's spokesman was not available for comment.

"UNREASONABLE Behavior"

McCartney, 64, cited Mills' "unreasonable behavior" in divorce papers, and Mills, who is 38, responded by vowing to file counter-claims in Britain and the United States.

"She is hugely disappointed that matters of such a confidential nature should be aired in public and feels it is inappropriate to speak about such delicate matters when a child is involved," her spokesman said in a statement last month.

Lawyers believe McCartney could lose up to one quarter of his wealth, estimated at 825 million pounds ($1.5 billion), as a result of a divorce, partly because he did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement.

The couple met in 1999 at a charity event a year after the death from breast cancer of McCartney's first wife Linda.

Mills has been the target of lurid allegations in British tabloids since separating from McCartney, but he has strongly denied she married him for his money, saying in May there was "not an ounce of truth in this."

Earlier on Tuesday, Hall said Mills had laughed off being locked out of McCartney's London home.

On Monday, police were called to the residence when Mills' security guard climbed over the wall of his premises to let her in. The locks on the gates had been changed.

"One of the security people inside called the police," Hall said. "They turned up and she went off for a drive around the block with the kid."

Mills had arrived at the home with daughter Beatrice.

"She was laughing about it," Hall said, when asked about newspaper reports that Mills was angry at being locked out.

Now this may sound absurd, but why do you care? I have always been baffeled at people concerning them selves with the private matters of others. Just shows how nosey humans car.

Because I didn't know Paul McCarthy can be this way...
I thought he is a nice guy...
Wow he locked his wife and his young daughter out.

Where can they stay at now?

His wife had a bad past... I don't know exactly what she did...
I think she was a stripper...
But geez,
why he treated her so bad because of what she did in the past???

Being a stripper is a job.... it isn't a bad thing at all.

You thought he was a nice guy? You have never met him. You cant say that someone has a bad past, and have no idea why you think that. You have no idea what really happened, no one does. The media has a tendency to blow things out of proportion to get sales. Dont believe everything you read.

Her early life was turbluent. Her mother left home when she was nine, leaving Heather and her siblings in the care of an abusive father. When her father went to prison, Heather moved to London to live with her mother. As a teenager she ran away from home and found herself homeless. After holding a series of menial jobs, She put her entrepreneurial skills to work and successfully formed and sold businesses and began a career in modelling.

In 1988, while aged nineteen, she took part in a photoshoot with a male model with whom she performed simulated sexual acts. [1] The photos were published in a book entitled Die Freuden der Liebe (The Joys of Love). [2]. An American edition was published in the same year with the title Sex Games. The male model has stated the book project was presented to him as a sex manual, not pornography.

In 1990, she moved to what was then northern Yugoslavia (now Slovenia), to recover from an ectopic pregnancy. She arrived to witness the unfolding civil war first-hand. Over the following two years, she modelled to raise funds for refugees of the war, commuting between Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and the UK and working with government agencies to establish refugee crisis centers, hospitals and housing for the homeless.

[edit]
Accident and leg amputation
In August 1993, she was hit by a police motorcycle while crossing the road near London's Kensington Palace; her injuries included crushed ribs and a punctured lung. She needed a metal plate put into her pelvis and also the amputation of her left leg below the knee [3]. Mills McCartney has a prosthetic leg, notably taking it off and showing it to USA talk show host Larry King during his interview with her in October 2002. She later sold her story of recovery following the accident to a British tabloid, with details of how she and her boyfriend made love in her hospital bed.

Following the accident she arranged for unwanted prostheses to be sent from the United Kingdom to the war-torn former Yugoslavia.

At 14, she was homeless and lived under a bridge in London. For four months, before moving in with friends, she stole food and clothes to survive. She also spent time with a carnival.[9]
In early 1989, after becoming more established as a model, she and her mother reconciled. Then her mother went in for minor surgery and never returned; a blood clot moved into her lungs and heart, and she died.[10]
While in hospital, she let reporters into her hospital room and sold her story to the highest bidder. During the next month, she earned about $250,000. [11]
While she was engaged to be married to Chris Terrill, a film maker, she met Sir Paul and abandoned her fiancé only days before the wedding [12]. After a period of going out with each other, in March 2000 Mills and Sir Paul announced they were in love. It is not known if she told him about her change of plans for her earlier marriage. He eventually proposed with a diamond and sapphire ring he had purchased in India.

I feel sorry for Heather Mills, not Paul, he is a meanie.

I wouldn't necessarily say Paul was mean. In divorce, both couples tend to get nasty. It happens.

Paul might've had good reasons to do what he did.

Expect there to be alot mud slinging, though. Always is in situations like this.
