Do you think court order/government order desegregation have many benefits to society? If you say yes or no, care to explain why.

For me, I believe that desegregation has many benefits because it is encouraged to integrate with different races, make more diverse.

Sometime, it has short term solution, but not long term solution. For example, the school desegregation and busing only have short term solution because they were contributed to white flight. It will render desegregation as useless due to lack of white students. The white flight caused many cities to lose the tax base and decline of population (not case for cities with great number of hispanic like LA, Houston, Dallas). Detroit was one of perfect example.

I don't understand why majority didn't want integrate with other races at beginning.

Just remember desegregation and integration are not the same thing.

Desegregation removes the barriers between two groups but it doesn't bring them together.

Integration brings groups together but not always in a natural, voluntary way.

It wasn't just the majority that didn't want integration--at least not forced integration. More people supported desegregation than supported integration.
