Deafpagers.com: New SK model will be coming soon

They've had it up for some time now. They want to keep your business by making you think it's going to come out soon so you don't go anywhere else to buy a pager, meanwhile, they'll happily sell you a different device.

This does not mean "coming soon" because even they have no idea when a newer sidekick model will come out.

Yeah, they do... I'd never buy anything like SideKick from a small-time deaf-run company... Only from the reliable ones like T-Mobile, VerizonWireless, Cingular, etc...

Why?

keyboard warped

Anyone experiencing SK2 rubber keyboard being warped? Just wonder if there is a way to replace the rubber thing?

The most common reason for the SK2 keyboard getting warped is from using the keyboard with dirty hands/fingers, while eating, leaving in the car too often, exposed to extremely hot/cold weather, etc.

A lot of NTID students here have that problem. They often use their SK2 while they're out eating, especially when eating food like pizza, burgers, wings, chicken, etc. They also often leave their SK2 in the car during the hot summer and the cold winter.

The rubber becomes warped when exposed to cold/hot temperatures... something to do with expanding/shrinking. Also, if the rubber gets too oily... it can get warped as well.

That's why it's a good idea to make sure your keyboard is clean or to clean your keyboard from time to time. Usually, a Q-tip with good enough. It works for me. My keyboard has never gotten warped. :)

that's awesome, I can't wait to get SKIII

Well, it's alright. I can't sign up with T-Mobile service and get SKII because I have no credit at all...well...still in GED and I don't have a job or a credit card...

I don't like being subjected to a credit check and get charged a whole lot more money from T-Mobile if I have no credit. Well, I still use AIM with "My IP Relay" and registered with a personal phone number, but if I have to use my Ameriphone Q90-D TTY (purchased from MaxiAids) with my Motorola V710 that I purchased from Alltel, I'll have problems sending/receiving TTY conversations...forcing me to use analog mode, but when hang up or not using a phone after 10 minutes, my phone goes back to digital mode and it's embarrassing! Thus I'm stuck with the family plan that my mom/dad have signed up with...

I'll probably get Sidekick III when I apply for a new credit card after finishing my reading portion of the GED (reading is the only one left and I got a 400 out of 410 and 410 is passing and my total points are 2270, over 2250 which is passing but doesn't mean that I've passed the GED), but I'd probably prefer a Windows Mobile-based phone with a TTY capability built-in. That is, I'd like to be able to answer/receive TTY calls without an external TTY and to be able to make TTY calls in case of an emergency... I'd like to have a personal phone number for TTY-to-TTY calls, but I already have registered my personal phone number with My IP Relay (IP-Relay.com), which "My IP Relay" can only accept voice-to-TTY calls and not TTY-to-TTY calls.

My friend went to Tmobile in Colorado yesterday to ask for switching from sk1 to sk2, but was told that sk2 will be no longer in stock...sk3 will come out sometime this august. It looks like a mda. That's what he was told. :dunno:
