Alpine Skiing - Combined

On a sunny day in Park City, the 16th Winter Deaflympics saw the
resurrection of a sport, Alpine Skiing- Combined. Petra Kurkova of the Czech Republic added gold to her growing medal collection with a time of
1'28.25. Tereza Kmochova of the Czech Republic also found her way onto the
medal podium again, with a time of 1'28.85, good for silver. Rounding
out the women was USA's own Kelley Duran, who finished with a time of
1'32.17, which gave her the bronze.

On the men's side, Matthias Becherer of Germany skied his way to gold,
with a time of 1'24.24. Already a gold-medal winner, Roland Schneider
of Switzerland captured silver, with a time of 1'26.53. Phillipp
Perchtold of Austria was only .4 seconds back, with a time of 1'26.57, good
for bronze.

Cross Country Skiing:

10KM Mass Start- Women
Russia continued it's dominance in cross country skiing, capturing 5
out of 6 medals on the day. Anna Fedulova bettered her bronze from the
previous day, skiing her way to the gold, with a time of 31:15.5. Lyubov
Misharina, already a gold-medal winner from the day before, walked away
with the silver, clocking 31:26.4. Ukraine's Maryna Kulesh made sure
Russia didn't sweep the medals, as she captured bronze with a time of
33:43.0.

The Russians had cause to celebrate, as they saw three of their own men
stand atop the medal podium. Leading the way was Alexander
Degtiannikov, who clocked a 42:02.7, giving him gold. Close behind was teammate
Sergey Ermilov, with a time of 42:08.0, earning him the silver. Bringing
up the rear was bronze medal winner Sergey Tishchenko, with a time of
42:13.9.

Curling:

Curling was introduced as a demonstration sport during the 16th Winter
Deaflympics. Medals will be awarded, but they will be square, instead
of round, for curling is still a demonstration sport. 5 men's teams and
4 women's teams are vying for medals.

Curling kicked off with a special traditional ceremony before the first
matches.

Canada showed its prowess in curling, as the men defeated China, 15-4,
and the women defeated Croatia 23-1.
Switzerland rounded up the day's games, with a 15-3 defeat of Finland.

Hockey:

Game 7- Finland defeated Russia 4-1
