kyw.com - Deaf Woman Sexually Assaulted In Bucks Co.

Bucks County police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a deaf female as she left a Wal-Mart shopping center.

Police said the attack happened September 6 shortly before 9 p.m. They said the victim, in her 30s, was assaulted while waiting for the bus after shopping at a Wal-Mart in the 3400 block of Horizon Blvd in Bensalem.

According to police, the victim was dragged from the shopping center toward a construction site near a commercial building where she was forced to perform a sexual act between two trailers.

The mute woman was unable to call for help.

Shoppers considered the attack bold because there are usually people around, even in the evening.

"It's usually crowed. It's usually busy, so I'm surprised something like that happened," Liza Gilchrist said.

"I thought this was a great area. I would never think of somebody being assaulted. It's really scary," Desiree Spencer said.

The deaf victim was able to give a good description of her attacker.

The suspect is described as a white male, 30-35-years-old, 6' to 6'2" tall, weighing 210-230 lbs. He has brown hair, brown eyes, with a beard and mustache. He also has other distinctive features:

"Tattoos on both the neck and arms and also tattoos going around his neck, also with a large piercing in his one ear, one of those hole type piercings in where the whole ear is exposed. This is some special characteristics with this individual, somebody in the area has to know this person in the Delaware Valley," Harran said.

Authorities are checking surveillance video from Wal-Mart as they continue their investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Bensalem police.
