ROSEVILLE, Mich. (AP) -- A Roseville woman was jailed without bond after being charged with open murder in the fatal stabbing of her live-in boyfriend.
Mary Ann McBride, 41, was charged Monday in the death of Robert A. Adelsburg, 45. She faces a preliminary examination May 4.
Adelsburg, like McBride, was deaf, and they worked together at a local post office, Deputy Police Chief Daniel Young said. McBride apparently became upset after learning Adelsburg was planning to end their relationship, Young said.
Police discovered Adelsburg's body Friday night after being called by his mother and ex-wife, who had gone to his house when he failed to pick up his children for visitation.
"Mr. Adelsburg was found in a basement bathroom with blood all over the place," Young said.
Adelsburg apparently was attacked while he slept, then tried to escape after being awakened. A coroner's report indicated he bled to death after an artery in his leg was severed, The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reported.
McBride was in the home when police arrived, with superficial cuts on her wrist. Young said he didn't know if the wounds occurred during a struggle or were self-inflicted.
