This is very sad. However, instead of wringing our hands over gun control, mental health, etc, we the deaf need to encourage ourselves and one another to use hearing aids or cochlear implants. These aids which enhance our sensory awareness will also enhance our safety by alerting us to sounds behind our backs or in another room.
