THE Uganda National Association of the Deaf (UNAD) is to stage a play where all the actors are deaf, writes Herbert Ssempogo.

Presented under UNAD’s Silent Theatre Project, (STP) “The Magic Seeds”, entrance to which shall be free, will be staged at the National Theatre in Kampala on December 15 to create awareness about the problems faced by the deaf.

“The performance will depict the potential and creative ability of deaf people to the general public. We can publicise sign language through drama and also express our needs to all members of the community,” UNAD’s gender and theatre co-ordinator, Florence Mukasa, said last week.

The play, set for 6:00pm, comprises a cast of nine deaf actors trained under the STP and two interpreters headed by Mukasa.
