Deaf school students set for home opener anthem performance - The Times-Tribune

The national anthem at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees' home opener next week will be performed by students from the Scranton School for Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing Children.

A student group called Sign Connection will sign "The Star-Spangled Banner" before Wednesday evening's game at PNC Field, officials said. The youths also performed at a Yankees game last season.

Superintendent Don Rhoten said the school was "tremendously proud" of the students.

"Their talent and poise reflects so well on our school and our community. I know that they will give it their best, and we're all pulling for them," he said in a statement.
